When the temps get down out of the triple digits and you can actually enjoy yourself.

CharleyD posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 8:15 PM

You can say that again! :o)

draculaz posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 8:17 PM

you know if i was still in canada and i was under 10 feet of snow right now i'd travel up to groin's place, take him out back, and beat the living senses out of him with a fake santa... :P Drac

GROINGRINDER posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 8:23 PM

There are no Canadians left in Canada. They are all down here in Arizona.

draculaz posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 8:38 PM

i have to say though, that picture is amazing :)

Syncopate posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 8:58 PM

You guys should try out the Nevada Desert in the spring... 4 days, dry camp, on an archaeology field trip... wheweee! lol (I'll skip the ghosts and spirits story here)...

coolcatcom posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 10:42 PM

Except me Groin, I'm still her buried in 10 ft. of F..k..g snow and I HATE winter. (must agree with draculaz about the santa beating)

woodhurst posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 10:43 PM

GROINGRINDER posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 11:10 PM

Coolcatcom you could not pay me enough to live in the snow again. I would love to carve out an income online so I could spend winters in Arizona and summers in Colorado. Woodhurts this is about six miles from where I live. Two miles from my house you can find Ancient Indian Pottery fragments in the desert. Draculaz thanks, my crappy HP Photosmart 315 does not do justice to the landscape here. ICM it stays a shade of brown here all the time unless you have an irrigation system, and that is a waste of water. That is what I envy about those living in wetter climates where they have ample winter snow.

Zhann posted Sat, 20 December 2003 at 11:58 PM

Ahhh, summers in Colorado, yup they're sweet...only been to Arizona drivin' thru, but my hubby grew up there, he says it's hot and dry all the time....snowed here but it melts off the next day, only the mountains have some snow, picture is looking out my bedroom window....

Is that west slope?

Zhann posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 12:26 AM

Yeah, Parachute to be exact, between Glenwood Springs and Grand Junction, more towards JG, these I believe are part of the 'Bookcliffs'....

Hey..I live in a country with no Christmas as such...since it's Hindu based... and well..unless you're a Christain..you'd remember it's chrismas. So you gys who are snowed under, sipping wine, with fruit cake and all the x-mas goodies..some of us are still having a normal, routine day!!Merry X-mas...

GROINGRINDER posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 12:48 AM

I was gonna say Montrose, or Rifle. It's all good.

GROINGRINDER posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 12:52 AM

What my pic doesn't show is that the forest service is closing all the local 4wd rds and outlawing target shooting. This I believe is because of all the houses being built adjacent to National Forest land. It really sucks that roads used for decades now have locked gates.

Zhann posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 1:31 AM

Bummer, but I can see the need. 5 hunters were sited for reckless endangerment when they parked on a county road and started shooting elk in someone's front yard, directly towards the house, missed the two year old in a playpen by inches, in the livingroom, lucky the others were in the back yard, are people (especially hunters) stupid or what....;

Oh, the hunters are stupid all the world over. Dogs, cows, people... it's all targets intentionally or accidentally.

Great pics! Yeah, I guess some people can be quite stupid.

Rochr posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 3:19 AM

I gotta say that ild prefer your deserts. Its not so much the snow, but the extra, very, very ice cold wind, that i really hate...

Heres a pic from Halmstad. (from last year) Merry X-mas :)

We have heavy rain and storm in germany.. :-(

CryingWolf posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 5:34 AM

Yeah, I remember it could be pretty nice there in Arizona. I took these pictures last year around this time, when I was staying in Prescott for work. Some friends and I went for a ride just south east of Phoenix on Apache Trail. This was taken at Roosevelt Lake. I put in well over three hundred miles that day on the cruiser.

CryingWolf posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 5:41 AM

I returned home (Spokane, WA) December 27th and took this picture the 28th, of Lookout Pass, on the Montana / Idaho border. I was towing my bike on a trailer.

Ang25 posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 7:57 AM

I took this last week. Its out my back door. Its always like this for about 4 months straight. I hate winter too.

derjimi posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 8:16 AM

Gimme your snow - I send you my heavy rain & wind...

coolcatcom posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 9:56 AM

CryingWolf, that's what I see out of my windshield nearly every day and for the next six months (only piled 6 ft high + on both sides of the road) slush and brown white misery (Montreal Quebec you see) by february your mind begins to go (hit the bar) derjimi, I love that pic...looks like spring to me.....

CharleyD posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 10:06 AM

We have heavy fog, can't see a thing out my back window. ;o) ... always a "white Christmas" .... but no snow. A little rain some times.

Ang25 posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 11:04 AM

Today, out my front door. Notice the front walk isn't shoveled. Makes it harder for those unwanted visitors to stop by, LOL.

GROINGRINDER posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 11:23 AM

Repost the pics of snow and ice when it is back over 100 degrees.

Sambucus posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 11:27 AM

Right now the forecast for the UK is that we will soon get the 1 or 2 centimetres of snow that will bring all services to a halt and disrupt the transport system.

Ang25 posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 12:35 PM

LOL, We get over a foot of snow I still have to go to work.

catlin_mc posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 3:32 PM

Last night we had slushy rain and we've to expect snow soon, and it's already snowing in the mountains. I agree with Rochr the cold wind, especially when it comes from the north, is dreadful. It's like invisible ice hitting you and somehow it seems to be able to penetrate most clothing. If I could move to a warmer climate I would, maybe see you soon erosiaart, I hear the weather is nice this time of year where you are. 8) Catlin

@Ang25, where are you again? @Sambucus, tell me about it!

Although currently in the south of England, I'm moving soon (I hope) to the warmer climate of Fishers, Indiana. My better half took this last week. It's a shot of the back yard out of my future home. Can't wait to move somewhere warmer than England. Sorry that it's a link, but you'll see why I've had to do it if you click on it.

Hey drawbridgep, that`s really nice, and just the way I like to see snow. In a picture.

GROINGRINDER posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 5:35 PM

If Indiana is warmer than England, then I am truly sorry for you drawbridgep. LOL I hope you enjoy the "warmth" of your new home. Indiana is "frozen tundra" as far as I am concerned. 8^)

drawbridgep posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 5:41 PM

In the depth of winter, Indiana is much colder than England and in the middle of summer is much much hotter. England is just pretty much Blah the whole year. Actually that's not fair. England had record temperatures this year. Even got up to 97 where I am. For about 30 minutes anyway. ;-)

LOL, I was wondering the same thing, England cannot be colder than Indiana. I'm living in the Fingerlakes Region of New York, nowhere near NYC and I've never had the chance to go there. We aren't as bad here as Buffalo NY but we still get way more snow than I care to see. It'll probably be March or April before I see the ground again. :'(

Ang25 posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 5:53 PM

Oh and thats a lovely picture you did for us. I agree I prefer seeing it on screen rather than in person. I hope you enjoy living in America. My daughter just got back from France and didn't want to come home. She's hoping to go back to England this summer she really enjoyed her trip there.

CryingWolf posted Sun, 21 December 2003 at 10:40 PM

coolcatcom - Yeah, this year is a bit harsher here in Spokane. I was able to ride at least a couple of days a month last year. I haven't ridden since October this year 8( I do miss the riding you can do down there in Arizona this time of the year. But ha I was able to ride over the 4th of July during the day without melting here in Spokane.

GROINGRINDER posted Mon, 22 December 2003 at 12:01 AM

When I lived in Colorado I took the roof off of my 4wd. It was a little tough in the winters, and I had to drill drain holes for the spring rains, but I loved it. When I got down here to Arizona I took the doors off as well. I loved that little International Harvester Scout2 and cried like a baby when it died. I would love to have a motorcycle too.
