Hi everyone. Need a little help here. I am doing some pictures in bryce 5 with poser 4 figures i have made. The problem is, when I rendered the figures in poser the lighting is nice(default lighting) when I do the same in bryce it comes out harsh and cold. I have done everything to try and fix it. I have tried adding multiple lights that are different colors but it seems to muddy the whites on the figure. If someone knows or could help with this little lighting problem I would really appreaciate it. Thanx Lunar!

is it my imagination or does the bryce render seem cold. I can see the yellows in the render with poser, but it looks warmer to me, much more realistic. I would do it all in poser but there is a few elements I want to add in bryce that you can't do in poser. Call me crazy but after you spend a lot of time making your own clothes and textures you really want it to come out near perfect. Thanks for all the help. Lunar

Have you played with the ambience and color settings in the material lab? Or is the bryce render a straight import? The settings in Bryce need to be adjusted. Although it looks like you already did that but maybe not. For example the ambience color from Poser to Bryce is always set to black with a value of 100.

Yes, but if you icrease the ambiance of a figure against a black backdrop you get this weird glowing type figure. But thanks for the input. I even tried to apply a light hue of peach to a sphere light, it warms it up with the added problem of tinting the whites and other light colors.

You could try reducing the shadow intensity in the sky lab too. That will help soften up some of the extremem dark areas.

I usually place ranged(approx 10-15units) spotlights(approx 15units) with no shadow and soft edges close to the skin that's showing on my Poser figures and usually give the light a sort of pale tanny/peach color. This seems to work for me so you could give it a try and maybe it'll work for you too. 8) Catlin

Have you tried using "Soft Shadows" in the lighting lab ?(Can be done on "Normal" render setting) You can also use "Shadow Ambience" to adjust the intensity of the shadow colors. Of course this will dramatically increase render times. You could also use the materials lab to adjust the texture "ambience" color to a lighter color than black, say a semi-dark charcol gray. Definitely adjust the shadows using the Skylab as suggested by Aldaron. Take them to a very light gray at around 50.

Er, have you tried lowering the bump on the bolero? also, default Poser lights include an orangey and grey one, while the default Bryce light colour is white. The Poser render looks coloured to me. So, try with very little orange. Something like 253 red, 253 green and 0 blue.
