I'd say it's a pretty good start for an alpha. Marque

I think you can right-click on the dials and set the number on the keyboard. I've got a rendering going in the background (pushing the size limits), so I can't verify it at the moment... -Jeff

At least for posing, you can set the dials numerically by right clicking then typing the value. I'd assume it's the same for other areas. I just tried putting in a light and it worked, but I have no idea of the scale involved, so positioning it is going to take a bit of work until I figure that out. (Numeric is sooo much easier for me than sliding dials around!)

Anton, did you have to turn off the column's texture to be able to get reflections on it? Maybe that's what I was doing wrong. :) Thanks very much for these examples. SnowS

I do not speak as a representative of DAZ, I speak only as a long-time member here. Be nice (and quit lying about DAZ) and I'll be nice too.

To get the clearer eyes, what were the the eyeball parts set to, material-wise? That may have something to do with it... (lemme go check once this render I'm toying with is done...) /P

Anton, how do you get your render to look finished? I tried rendering Vicki and her hair comes out like a draft. It seems to be rendering what it sees in the preview. The hair looks blurred and it just doesn't look like a final render. Your render above looks fantastic! How do you set the render to look finished? Melanie

There are two renderers, one is a antialiased OpenGL, the there is a renderman variant. Under Render settings make sure that OpenGL Render isn't toggled.

OK, I'll try that. I know the program is still in its "foetus" stage, and it's not all there yet. It'll take time to figure it all out. Thanks for the tip. Melanie

I turned the texture off on the column to get the reflection to be proper. Sliding the texture strength down would be an option as well. I love the pin lights(Lightbulbs) because they create beautiful gradients. I do not use the open gl for anything other than drafts and tests.

Wow, I can see I have a lot to learn. I'll have to figure out the lights and the cameras. It's all so confusing, but it'll get easier as it goes along. Melanie

Anton, when you say pin lights, can I assume you're talking about what I call point lights? (No dimensions, just an omnidirectional light that can be placed where needed.) If so, how is control of their placement handled? (X-Y-Z coords or by some other method.) Also, can they be placed inside a closed room and still illuminate the room? or better yet, can they be assigned to appear to come from an object designated to "looks_like (object)"?
Penguinisto posted Fri, 26 December 2003 at 1:24 PM
millman - yep; they operate the same as Vue (and everyone else's) "point lights". /P
