Daz Songbird with De Espona plants- no transmaps or tex maps on them- they are made up of polygons- yet DS seemed to have no problems with them (I thought it would choke on them- surprised!)All the models and MATS in this scene loaded fine without problems- (Songbird and Sky Dome).

Also still having a great time with Traveler's Sky Domes.
If you get the Import Error message- just click on the "ok"
button and it will load anyway. I have seen lots of error messages with "{" as being something DS doesn't like, but these are certainly not FATAL import errors. 75% of the time they load correctly- but occassionally with missing
maps. (These are usually because I had moved the maps someplace else previously.)

A Test with All lights having Shadows Turned On.

The turtle pics are nice but the background is too dark IMO. Actually the beach cyclorama thingie is the one I've had most trouble getting to look good. But then it always messes up in P5 too, so I'm more or less used to it G I find D|S has very nice shadows. Clean and crisp and still not all just pitch-black blots.

I like your renders, Veritas! Also, did I mention that your pseudo-katakana lettering is really cool? Is this a font that you created yourself or can it be had online? :)

C makes it easy to shoot yourself in the foot. C++ makes it harder, but when you do, you blow your whole leg off.

ernyoka- I still would like to see them add more shadow controls to the lights (as I am sure they will) so that you can have soft shadow blends, etc.

Oh yes, and I'm sure shadow maps will be part of the final version. But for ray traced (or whatever thay are) shadows, I think D|S's shadows do a very good job :o)

Maybe for every light you can set up a pair lights very close to one another, one for the major illumination having no shadow and the other much lower in intensity having a shadow.

I made a pic like that, pisaacs :o) The light in the lantern (link to pic above) is actually 2 lights, one with shadow and one without. Tried with only one at first, with shadow on, but it got TOO dark, so I cheated :o)
