Just curious...did the Holiday Contest ever close? I thought results were due 2 days ago and the voting closed on the 27th. Looks like people are still voting? Anyone? I may try iming a mod if no one knows...

Seems people are still casting votes. Hmmm... Have the winners been selected yet by the judges?

No idea...if the order keeps changing it seems on a whim which ones end up in the top 20 even, so its hard to know which ones made it or not.

Well did it? Seems a simple thing to show results.lydian posted Mon, 05 January 2004 at 1:47 PM
Maybe they meant it to be the Holiday 2004 Contest ;)

Erm....what's clone votes? And while we're at it...how come the rankings move up and down every tim the page reloads? That is the most confusing part...can't tell if you're in or out..lol! (curious from a web devloper's point of view....run a few servers and forums myself..)

i'm not 100% sure, but i'm assuming a clone vote is when someone has or makes several user accounts to vote for themselves. There are a few ways of checking this out, IP address would most likely be primary, however, accounts who's only activity is voting on contests or accounts that were just made and then voted and thats all would be very good considerations as well. I can see how this would be a real pain if there were a lot of them, so perhaps there are :)

hmmm...that's what I was thinking too...someone actually started a thread about that during the voting, but it didnt seem like anyone followed up. What exactly counts as a clone vote then...? I mean..I only got like 3-4 votes...you know Dad...a friend....hubby of course...and some other one from someone in the community (Thanks!)...I'm sure hubby has the same IP as me since we're on the same cable... Then again...the friend is over all the time. But she's an artist here too...what if she voted while she was at my house? She'd be under her own login...but it would still be my IP. Such are the inadequacies of tracking with IPS. I think the community voting thing may be becoming a bad idea overall, not because their choices are not important, but because perhaps it can't be controlled or made fair, which is basically just sad. I did like the top 20 voted on by "top" artists though. Seems like they may make a better judge of skill perhaps or artistic effort. Lord knows I look at enough of them and try to learn their skills as I work as does anyone serious about learning. I dunno...starting to give up on competing around here. I seem to do better art when not pressed by content rules anyway...more creative I guess. Although I do intend to give the DAZ Tolkein competition a shot..how could I pass that one up? :)
