I think it is wonderful that we have coordinators in addition to moderators and administrators, but I think the people who most quickly see when a thread is going OT or starting to smoke with flames are members who participate on the thread. Sometimes, I've found, there is no one online to IM, or I have a hard time figuring out who would be the appropriate person. What about having a "Signal Box"...a single address/form/IM or whatever where members can post concerns they have and that would give the coordinators / moderators / administrators a place to glance through and see if action needs to be taken quickly or not. I don't think this should necessarily be on public display...I don't know that people want to be identified as "squealers" but it might help to make people feel less frustrated when they see a thread go on and on out of control (sometimes this can happen in a matter of minutes, of course, and no system will solve that). Just an idea. Up for debate. I'm not attached to it emotionally so if you want to slam it, go ahead.
