Somebody already did the penguin, too. Don't know where. And you could fake Gollum (which was apparently Tolkien's anti-semitism expressed as a character) using that Daz gremlin that came with ProPak.

Hve you guys seen Gollum's MTV awards acceptance speech? It's also on the extended DVDs for Two Towers, and it's just hilarious!

I'm going to carbon date myself here, but I would like to see anything by Tex Avery. Specifically, Lil' Red and the Wolf. I think Sara, with some serious hip and breast work, could do for Lil' Red, but the Wolf will take someone with some excellent talent. Oh, sure...there's the Warner Brothers collection of toon folks, there's King Syndicate's Popeye and Betty Boop, Hana Barbara's entire line of characters...but I think we should start with Avery's folks. Any takers?

No contest entries here.. LOL!Betty Boop WOULD be cool!I'd think maybe Puppet could do something like that. You could probably do a "Little Red" Tex Avery thing with Neftoon Gal. The wolf would be cool though! Come to think of it, animaniacs would also be nice!

Poser copies of famous characters have been pulled in the past for copyright infringement. I do remember one person actually being contacted from a legal department that was not amused. Then there was when Universal had all the "Alien" look-a-like stuff pulled. It is safer to avoid copyrighted characters and just focus on originals. It's not fun to make'em if you can't share them. Famous doesn't always mean profitable. So some copyright holders will seek damages.

I'm sure no one would have even entertained that connection, had you not brought it up and what has it got to do with Poserising him? Sheesh.... Betty Boop would definately be cool. Along with cupies, one could do Campbell Soup kids (they kind of look the same) I like some of the "retro" characters like that. How about the Pillsbury dough boy?

It would take an entire Ph.D. thesis to elucidate Tolkien's motivation for Gollum, but you're right - it's off-topic. This is a touchy issue for Tolkien fans, who view themselves as tolerant and open-minded. It's an even more sensitive issue for British Tolkien fans, because all they have to do is look at their various newspapers and magazines to see that the same anti-semitism prevalent in Tolkien's time is still there today.

I'm anti-anti-semetic. I dated two really nice Jewish boys. (Not at the same time) Both were perfect gentlemen, both were very kind and tender, and surprisingly mildly tempered. :) As for Gollum... I just don't see it. And it's not me trying to be blind, I really don't see the parellel...

I think Shazam would be a natural, her head is already bigger than average, the problem I had with my Betty was that because the head was so large the neck was getting distorted, so I had to carefully pose her.

I find this thread exciting [and don't see anyway that it can get off-track and nailed shut at this point]...It makes me remember back in the early days of Poser characters. Remember those gawd awful looking people who didn't even resemble cartoon characters? Then came Poser4 with more realism progressing up to the current time with all the photo-realism...now evolving to the toonish people. Poser people are going full circle and improving with each loop...and now we are making a list to take it into the next generation...Cartoons! I love the 'toons ...We need Popeye!
xoconostle posted Thu, 08 January 2004 at 10:58 PM
I still want a toon horse, cute and goofy looking like the one in Toy Story II. A large cast of rubbery "funny animals" from early 1930s cartoons. Bouncy singing cows and piglets and anything else you can think of. Koko the Inkwell Clown. Popeye, definitely. Olive Oyl too. Felix the Cat and Betty Boop. Dancing Hippos like in Fantasia. Baby Gollum is cute until it bites off their fingerses, preciousssss.
