Poser gets turned into Toon and Illustration art for only $5 (cost of the shader) using new free Daz Studio Alpha.

Daz Dragon, Heavy Horse, MilCat, Anime Doll, Vicky and more get TOONED!

Which version of Poser? Will this work for version 4?

dialyn posted Sat, 10 January 2004 at 9:14 AM

I don't think it is for Poser at all....it's a little misleading to post it here.

Questor posted Sat, 10 January 2004 at 9:29 AM

The shader is for the render engine 3Delight and as such for the alpha of Daz Studio, the implication here is that you can take figures from Poser, into Daz Studio and toon shade them. I agree with Dialyn, it's misleading to post it here as currently only owners of 3delight or Platinum Club members (Daz Studio - pre-release alpha) can benefit from this and it has nothing to do with Poser except in related figure use.

You can use it with 3Delight and Poser's RIB export, but that requires that you edit the RIB files by hand. While I did use Poser 4's RIB export to render some of the promo images, it's easier to get results from my shader with D|S. Poser 5 users don't need to put up with RIB exporting or 3Delight, the material room's toon node can create a similar look. -Stefan

Thank you, stewer. That's good information to have. :)

Ah, bummer. I'd hoped for something like this for P4. I have P5, but it gave me such a headache with the material room and slow rendering that I reverted to ol' reliable. Guess I'll have to dust P5 off and try again.

LOL - Poser 5 users can do that for free with the included Poser 5 Toon shader. You can find them under New node - Lighting - Diffuse - Toon.

Since I don't do this as a hobby, I've already lined up a deal that will get me about $2000 (minimum) for the dragon image. Nice investment for $5, heh?

Also- dragon tongue was noted in my thread if you click on the link. My final version is being rendered at 4000x4000
with several more small improvement tweaks.

Poser 4 or Poser 5, despite the, heh-heh little pep talks, doesn't DELIVER the professional level renders that I wanted, aside from using MAX or Lightwave, etc. DAZ Studio is tremendously EASIER to use for my huge Poser and 3D model collection. I use 3D to make MONEY. (heh-heh)

DAZ Studio Alpha is already a big new source for 3D project income, and I've only had it for 2 weeks!

Glad to see yoru making cash with it :) Personally, I use 3DS Max for most of the $$$ renders aroudn here - you just don;t get the same variety of effects from lesser items. That said, there hasn't been one thin int he 3Delight renderer that Firefly can't do... so I am not at all gonna deal with some of the other problems in D|S yet to worry about it :)

Dialyn, I agree. This is the wrong forum for this post, and Veritas should know better, since he is already posting many many times in the DAZ|Studio Forum. His thread title is extremely misleading, especially since he is also featuring DAZ items, not ones which come with Poser. Carolly

Mainly because, I think, it sounds like Veritas is advertising a product. Since he's already posted in the Daz Studio Forum, methinks this thread should be deleted. I also wish my lion looked more like a toon and less like an eraser. Sigh.
