is there a quick way to get to the default pose for V3? i cant seem to find it in all teh stuff ive acquired for poser...

Hi todd, 1. Load the Figure. 2. Turn off all IK chains. 3. Open the Joint Editor. 4. Click the "Zero Figure" button. 5. Do a "Drop to Floor" ... and that's all there is to it. cheers, dr geep ;=]

If the figure is not already whited out, I also do that... then save the figure into the library under a new name such as "Vicki Zero". That way you have a fresh clean figure ready to take whatever textures, pose, morphs you wish to add. Save them under new names, too.

There is a pose in pose sets called default if you want the "crucified" pose.

yeah i knew about the default pose, but ive got soo much stuff in my poser files i cant find it...lol..

its in the pose drawer called "pose sets"

After following Geeps advice, it might be a good idea to save the pose on one of your 9 pose dots so it is available at any time from your worktop.

I never understood why figures aren't set up that way automatically. It seems like whenever I bring a figure in they are always squating just a little. Just an annoying little quirk.

xantor posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 10:54 AM

It`s mainly the daz figures that have the strange squat, it is a mystery to me, too.

SamTherapy posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 11:07 AM

I think the squatting pose is so the legs will bend in the correct direction, should you sit the figure down. Remember, IK is on as a default.

Heya Dr. Geep, that drop to floor step? Won't that mess up the zero pose you need if you are importing an object to line up to make conforming clothing? I thought it would, but I could be in error so I am asking.

Lawndart posted Mon, 12 January 2004 at 1:25 PM

SamTherapy: You are correct on the bending thing. Wouldn't want those figures to look like chicken legs!

re: "Drop to Floor" Hi shadownet, Everything in the Poser studio is relative to some reference location. A Figure's Body is normally referenced to 0, 0, 0 in the Poser studio. A piece of conformable clothing is usually referenced to the Body Part to which it is attached. Doing a "Drop to Floor" for a piece of conformable clothing would not normally be done but would not cause a problem because it does not change any of the absolute reference points, i.e., center and end points. Ok? cheers, dr geep ;=]
