The link above goes to another "bits and peices" wip I've been playing with - its sort of patched together (which is why it looks patched together) to just see how figures in parts of the field are lit by the existing lighting. Any comments welcome.Dreams are just nightmares on prozac...

Geez thats alot of grass! :P Looks great so far!

Love that sky Flak, is it your own design? The scene has a sort of foreboding, LOTR, before battle, feel to it, which I guess is what your aiming for so it works really well. 8) Catlin

Your texturing is great and love the whole concept. Awesome sky mat. I would imagine that the bonfires will have more glow to them when the project is finished?

wow, this is gonna rock! The only thing so far that catches my eye, would be to maybe add a slope in the top right corner, like another mountain or foot hill that goes up into the corner, only because it would seem to balance out the rocks on the left---but thats just my opinion, and you havnt added the armies yet... I really cant wait to see what you do with this!!

Looking real good. I too like the ide of doing grass that way. Cheers for the idea.

Based on your previous work. . . it's gonna be a great battle scene!! Did something just move in those trees?? Well, I guess I better get going now before the fun begins!!! :)

Man... this is outstanding work Flak. You have set youself some high standards for this type of scene. So I have to agree with Nuski... this is gonna be a great battle scene. 8) Wade

Thanks guys. Woodhurst - I'll have a play with the idea - thanks. Catlin - its a combination sky - something I've been playing with recently. Its a bryce sky, but with a semi transparent recoloured blah blah photo over the top (one of Zhann's actually). Quest - yeah, not sure about the glow about the actual fires, but they will have some work done on them.

absolutely awesome, i just don't like the grass. no offense, i mean the scene is absolutely fantastic, but because the grass is so 2d-ish, the spaces in between make that stand out. i haven't really read any of hte replies above too see if anyone else has said this since i'm in a bit of a rush, but yeah... just my 2c :) Drac
draculaz posted Sat, 24 January 2004 at 11:28 PM
or... i could just read your initial thread and get why that is like that :D
catlin_mc posted Sun, 25 January 2004 at 11:28 AM
Flak, do you mean that it's a 2d image over the sky or did you add the pic in the sky lab?
Flak posted Mon, 26 January 2004 at 6:18 AM
Its a semi transparent 2d image that I put over the rendered sky (in postwork). Come to think of it, you should also be able to do the same thing by using a semi-transparent background screen in the actual scene (just put it behind the other stuff in the scene). lol Drac ;)
