Cool, having these all grouped together is much easier to review. Thanks again for the reposts Doc, I missed a few of these.

Ben_Dover posted Sun, 25 January 2004 at 1:53 PM

Hell...we didn't even have time to pander. Dammit. Now I feel so....empty. Thanks DrG. =) Any possibility of the camera tute being reposted again soon? I missed d/l'ing that one and can't find the coinciding one at fallencity. Is it there?

Engel47 posted Sun, 25 January 2004 at 2:04 PM

Cheers Doc, most "enlightening" and a much needed lesson.

geep posted Sun, 25 January 2004 at 2:21 PM

Hi Ben, I plan to "REPOST" all of the tuts eventually, but I will space them out so I don't "flood" the 1st page in the Forum. Just ... stay tuned ... Ok? cheers, dr geep ;=] Or ... you could ... wait for the "book." But, I wouldn't hold my breath. ;=]

oh gosh, I lost another post for not looking when I click after typing... Dr. geep, thanks so much for reposting... but, could you elaborate more on how to make the "visible"light cone effect, as seen in theaters (where the dust in the air helps produce the light cone effect)... is it just putting any cone and making it transparent?? but how transparent then?? I was also wondering how to get the effect of sun light in a hot summer day, but I think that by reading your tutorial i can figure it out myself (I think) thanks again! Max

Wow, Doc...now I have a basic understanding of something that has escaped me (and the mousetrap I call my brain) for several years! Er, these tutorials wouldn't be available somewhere as zip files, would they?

geep posted Wed, 01 December 2004 at 12:58 PM

Hi cedarwolf, Many of my tutorials are available as .pdf files on Crescent's website "Ebonshire." You can find it HERE. cheers, dr geep ;=]

Lovely to see this thread back again:-))

One point I'd like to make ('cos it confused me for a l-o-o-o-o-o-n-g time) is what "angle start/angle end" actually does. I couldn't get my mind around it at all, until one day the penny dropped (tracked by a spot-light)...

(see Doc's page 10)...

"Angle start" defines the angle at which the light (emanating from the spotlight) is at full brilliance.
"Angle end" defines the angle beyond which there is no light (ie dark).
The bit between those 2 angles is the "fall-off zone" - the light darkens (in the yellow area on P10) as it gets closer to the "Angle end"...

Both of these effects are affected by the distance fall-off...

I have to admit to feeling a total fool after the penny finally dropped, it's so obvious! Isn't it? Well.. err... it wasn't to me:-(((

So I'm posting this to possibly help someone else who has the same blind-spot I suffered from..

Cheers,
Diolma
