OK, I'll be brutally honest.....I honestly think its really cool. The detail in the ground, the color and contrast are really nice. The title should be something to do with "power", but I'm awful at coming up with stuff like that. Good job, Snakey.

hi, i like the diagonal composition but feel that it needs a bit of colour like a red rose or other flower. i hope this helps :)

I'm on the opposite side of this one. I'd like to see it in black & white. I think it'd bring the contrast out more. As for a title, I usually go with something simple. In this case, I'd call it "Hammer". Or if you like musical tie-ins, I might use the chant from Pink Floyd, "Hammer! Hammer! Hammer!" -Taltos

Honestly I like it but... I agree with Taltos that B&W may help it. Also the top and bottom of the hammer seem slightly overexposed. B&W may help hide that.

....hmmmmm...I sense a trap here -- but here goes ---- taken out of any context that might shed more light on this image - I 'd have to say the end result is that it's rather boring -- sure it's got detail and some texture - but so what? ---- and I'll play along with the musical theme -with - "If I had a Hammer".

geez... where's the flowers... the diagonal helps add interest as well as b&w calling attention to the textures any of the phrases from that song by Peter, Paul & Mary "If I had a hammer, I'd hammer in the morning I'd hammer in the evening, All over this land I'd hammer out danger, I'd hammer out a warning, I'd hammer out love between my brothers and my sisters, All over this land." hehe, i got that song stuck in my head now :D

Black and white would make it more powerful me thinks, but unstrung has a point here, it is a little boring. Might make it a little more interesting if you had a naked guy hammering with that hammer! Any volunteers????? hehehe!
Nilla posted Tue, 27 January 2004 at 4:20 PM
Then you could title it "Oh Yeah" by Yello ;)

...well I'm not voluntering for any naked poses - but I would suggest a naked Nilla or Cynlee would add contrast to the ruggedly masculine subject matter.( I could elaborate but sense the presence of The Renderosity morality police ( just kidding guys! ) ---- also i would like to apologize to Taltoswhatever for stiking that damn song in your head - by all means Zap it out! - but you know -i think Cynlee rather likes it going 'round and round in her head. --- Oh - as to that diagonal --- rather boring as it is centered and splits it into two equally boring halves -- put it off center and I'll give you a point.

...perhaps you could give us some insight first into what you were trying to accomplish, and how you think you've succeeded (or failed). It is a very nice hammer, I guess. Technically well executed. The 50% diagonal is rather, er, boring. But perhaps it was your intention to make a very straightforward boring hammer picture? Taken in the context with some of your Gallery work, like the stunning bold flowers, I'd have a difficult time describing how this fits in with your growth as an artist.

Yeah you are right about the compression thing, it really changes the whole pic itself. I din't know that there was size restriction for forum so I had to accomodate it within the 150 deadline so , the compression. Yeah I coulda resized it. This picture shoot was not planed or composed, it just lay there on the ground and I just took a shoot of it. But it's amazing that there are so many great suggestions here which makes me think , yes, this could have been a great composition, if given a little thought. I will still work on this and see what I comeup with.;) Ty all SNAKEY
