Hey guys and girls, I've got a scene I'm making with a small river meandering between a couple of terrains, and the camera sits on one of the terrains. What I wanted to do is, make a trail that goes along the terrain parallel to the river. What do you think would be the best and easiest way of doing this? It doesn't really need to be "cut out" of the grass, just a different colour would do nicely. Also, is there some sort of problem with the clouds tutorial in the Vue3 manual on page 199? No matter what I do, I can't get 'em to look as good as the ones on page 200. Thanks a lot people, Lynton

heyas; the easiest way, i think, to make the trail would be to go into the terrain editor and dig the trail in that. then, stick a plane or a cube (or cylinder... or another terrain, if you want) in the main terrain, with the material you want for the trail. it should poke out the trench you just made in your terrain and show up as the different material. as for the clouds... um... hmmm... well, as someone who can't ever seem to do anything with fuzzy and/or additive materials, i feel your pain. :) it says there should be a sample object called cloud? see if you can find the object or sample scene and check it out.

Have a look at my tutorial "how to create a river across a mountain". You may use that technic also to create a trail. http://members.tripod.com/~ggbe/beginners/begin.html
