This is great! I'm one of those who had not seen this before. It explains some things I really didn't follow about light/object color interaction among other things. Thanks for posting this. Gromit

WOOT Thanks DOC! This was helpful and well done! Keep up the good work... Has anyone told you lately WE LOVE YOU!!! ;-p So...did you have plans on teaching us Displacement Maps? (if you did mention it sorry...I have just gotten back from being out of town and am now subsiding my withdrawal symptoms from not being around a computer or POSER!) ;) Thanks again, Dagar

Wow. Those are wonderful lessons Dr. Geep. But Im still confused..lol. can we say slow?. I'll have to reread it or something. So you dont need BUMP to add texture to a person? I'll have to experiment now that I know a little more!! yay! - CuddleSin -
geep posted Wed, 21 July 2004 at 9:23 PM
No, you don't need a bump map to put a texture on a figure.
Don't confuse .bmp (bit map picture) with .bum (bump map).
The texmap may be a .bmp or a .gif or a .jpg, etc. and is loaded into the Texture Map. You do not need a Bump Map (Page 15) in order to use a texmap.
A bump map is applied like a texmap but it produces artificial shadows on a figure (or prop) to simulate ... guess what ... yup, bumps.
Please feel free to ask whatever questions you may have.
