I have a really weird question. Maybe you guys can help. I need to do a few shots of Stainless Steel glasses and smalware. I have in the past without a problem, but the shot i'm trying to get is giving me some. I need to take a close up shot of a Martini Shaker (you can look at my gallery, you'll understand what I mean) now my problem is all of my surrounding, my lights and my face always comes up in the shot. I need to find the perfect surrounding with the right colors and the right lights to take the shot. As for my face, nothing a little bit of photoshop can't solve :) So anyone as suggestions for capturing this shaker?

Bru - Sounds like you need something like the cloud dome. These are used for product photography. They give excellent diffused light, stop hot spots from lights on metallic surfaces and take away the reflections. The link above goes to one of the companies that sells these. They're not cheap, but take a look at the before and after shots. Also, I would think you could build something out of white material that would do the same thing. Make a cube shaped frame out of something like wire or PVC to hold the material in place around the object your photographing. -=>Donald

Hmm those domes look a bit pricey to me for what's essentially a big tupperware saladbowl with a hole in it. Can't you just get a big salad bowl at Woolworth's or something? Just cut right sized hole in it and there you go. Just my 2 cents

I'm building a plexiglass softbox out of a sheet of cloud white plexiglass, the light can go thru but more diffuse. I'll see what it does.
