Hi All, new user here, using Bryce3D I've been having trouble applying UV texture maps to poser figures. I need to use several different texture maps, (body, head, hairtex, hairtrans etc). As I understand it I should be able to click a blank square in the texture image source (so it gets a red surround), then load an image and it should arrive where the blank square was, beside all the other images in use. Well it doesn't work. I can only click on the first square (where the little gold man is), all the blank ones are dead, I can't select them. Consequently, every time I try to load an image it replaces the first one, so I can't load more than one. Am I doing something wrong? I managed to get it to work by saving the little gold man as an image list, then loading the list a bunch of times until I had lots of little gold men. Then I could pick one and replace him with my first image, pick another and replace him with my second image etc. A bit tedious. Why can't I pick on a blank square? Any ideas? I'm on Bryce3D. Thanks ob

I don't remember Bryce 3s exact routine, just tried it in 4 click on tile, select file, pops upin pict window and tile. Save list! Luck, Perry

Never heard of that happening before. Using Bryce 5, when you click on any blank square an "open" file dialog comes up so you can choose a picture file. What happens when you click the "Delete all" menu to get rid of mr gold man, then click any of the "smaller" blank squares? If you're using Bryce 5, have you applied the Bryce 5 patch? Other than that you might need to reinstall. Good luck!

Bryce 3 required an update (3.1) to work adequately. Is it still offered? I don't know. 7.182 meg file Mike

Thanks for the prompt replies. If I delete all I get stone-dead tiles, I can't click any of them. At the moment Mr Goldman is the only one I can select, so adding more mr goldmen via the list is all that works. Then once I have the images I need I can save a list and I'm set. I'll try to hunt down an update, thanks. ob

If you come into some funds you really should try to get Bryce 5, since it is now at a most reasonable price. There's also a host of neat tools with Br5 like metaballs and trees. I believe you can usually get hold of it at Amazon, either new or used. 8) Catlin BTW, welcome to Bryce and the forum obm. 8)

The patch solved the problem (and fixed a HUGE bunch of other issues, it seems! Where were the beta testers on that release, one wonders?) Thanks Catlin, I've studied a few tutorials done in Bryce5 and the big differences seemed to be trees, metaballs and (most importantly for me) soft shadows. I think I'll keep a look out for a good deal on 5. At the moment I'm really just using it as a renderer for some poser stuff, and models made in Wings3D. I haven't got into any of the outdoor/landscape features. I find the interface Soooo obscure, it's almost like a puzzle, like a Tomb Raider scene "click around and see if something opens". But for the same reason it's strangely rewarding when you get it, just like a puzzle... ob

The great thing about Bryce is the presets - you can sneak your way into the program, and months later it starts to dawn on you that you got to understand things like the terrain, sky and texture editors without conscious effort. Make use of the presets, and once you're used to them start tweaking cautiously :)
