Thank heavens I read the Lightwave statement, I thought I had to model the original pic..here goes..;)
Always thought a 'Hollywood' gun would be neat, never runs out of ammo, and is devestating. And, as everyone knows, I watch too much Star Trek, here goes..
This is the XM1, the Nova gun. It's based on the sun tap principle, and isn't actually a 'gun' per se, but actually a transporter. The gun 'locks' into the surface of the local sun, and transports a matter stream (original temperature and velocity) to a specified distance away from the transport emitter..so it's a flamethrower that operates at a 100 million degrees, with hydrogen and helium plasma forming at miles per second..this baby will cut through *anything*..;)
Only problem is is that it's a bit on the heavy side, so it's a crew-served weapon. An initial charge must be kept to establish a lock onto the star, but once the transmission takes place, you could theoretically fire it for a few billion years..;) practically, the vast amounts of energy limit it to only a few seconds..but with this kind of firepower, you'd only *need* a few seconds..;)
A) Transport Emitter
B) Force Field focus and backblast compensator
C) cooling fins
D) Mounting bracket, and optional charger
E) Targeting computer, focus and fire/safe controls
f) Trigger Assembly
And there ya have it..enjoy. Done in Wings 3d.
I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit
