I am learning modeling. I would like to have your comments, and suggestions, please. The picture is a sword I made using Cinema4D. I mainly used sprine & Loft Nurbs, and Boolean. It seams easier to control the shape with sprine & Nurbs method. The modeling was made by my own way. I am not sure whether this is good way or not.
Polygon count is pretty high about 23k without the cross. Is the 23k too high ? The tiny cross made using Zbrush is 39k which is very high. I should delete this, and use texture map.
Any better alternative way to make sword?
How would you make blade ?
I saw nice low polygon blade modeling of Moebius87. But, my own problem is that I am beginner, and I cant understand how you made it by simply looking at wire frame picture..
Thank you for your helps in advance.

When you convert the NURBS into polygons using CINEMA, is there a way to control the polygon output? In Rhino, we have a way of doing this so that we have more control over the final polycount...it would seem logical that Cinema would have something similar.

Oh, nice sword by the way...not sure about the texturing but I'm no expert in that area.

"Nurbs" in Cinema aren't really Nurbs, they're more like sub-division surfaces or Lightwaves sub-patch mode, Maxon has an interesting habit of using terminology differently to the rest of the industry! But yeah you can set different level of subdivision for the loft nurbs object. - Baz

Teyon, and BazC, thank you very much for your responses.
As BazC, mentioned, C4D can control it. I just used the default value. I have lots to learn for modeling. One of the reason for high polygon count was the many curves of the sword. But certainly I could control it.
I also noticed that someone mentioned "Nurbs" in Cinema aren't really Nurbs in Cinema forum. Does real Nurbs have more capability. Someday, I should try Rhino.
I was thinking about fantasy sword, so the texture did not show realistic sword. My main concern was the texture of blade. I was straggling to get realistic sharp blade. Blade is very hard for me.
Thanks again.
