No idea other than a species of water lily. I have several on my farm and some of them dont open, but they dont look exactly like that. Sorry. Too bad its not opening. Would make for a beautiful shot. Maybe try transplanting one to see what happens.

Looks to me like a yellow pond lily, otherwise known as a Bullhead lily. Hope this is the right one: http://www.ct-botanical-society.org/galleries/nupharlute.html Kim =)

Kim Girlfriend you are wonderful!!! these things have been blooming since.... ummm christmas or maybe thanksgiving? and I have been patiently waiting to get a shot of an open one and well it looks like they won't ever open! Killed that photo idea! LOL! OK well there are a ton of others here but it is nice to have a name for them, they grow wild here in the ditches and ponds. sniff sniffle goes off to find more pond flowers

Glad I could help! =) And I know that you'll have plenty of other flowers to take pictures of over there. Its finally starting to warm up again here, weee! I found the name of your lily in the Audubon guide for wildflowers. The picture of it was taken while the flower was open, so maybe they will open eventually. Keep your eye on them! =) Have fun on your flower hunt. huggles Kim =)
