been thinking about this... i figure that it would be easier to make it in bryce than wings... but i'm still fuzzy on the particulars of making it 'fit' in the easiest way... you know what i mean, the links fitting, and what not. is it done through parenting or what? drac

Well, as a test one day I stole the "smartpipe" idea and instead did it with chain links. (well, I didn't "steal" the idea, as I didn't know about it at the time, but I learned later) So if you remember anything about the smart pipe thing a while back, just replace the metaballs with chain, Each one at a 90 degree angle to the one next to it so they all fit. True, it isn't perfect, (every once ina while it doesn't intersect correctly) but it works easier than the alternative.

There's a chain device is the poser free stuff I think. If not I think I've still got mine somewhere......

A certain person called Thrallord made a pair of chain links out of Bryce booleans a long time ago. I still use them occasionally; it's a good way to get a quick chain on the fly.

you can multirep links along a path in the same way as that tutorial duplicates links; each link rotating 90 degrees(y) and offset in the(x) axis. It takes a little practice to get right, but once you get used to it multirep is faster than duplicating each link.
