Subject: Qustion about rules.

Hi! I have never posted anything here or in Fractal gallery. I love Apophysis, and have used it a lot, but only as an ingredient in my images. I am posting only in 2D gallery. I am wondering what rules you have here, when it comes to this. How much postwork can be tolerated in a fractal image to still be called fractal? I showing by some of the things I made. The first one, Apo-monster I only have showed in 2D forum.

The last was postworked with Flaming pear's Flexify and layered with an image of space. Wher do these belon according to the rules of this forum?

Hi Gunsan You are welcome here. Take a look at the Fractal gallery. There are a good deal of fractal artists that use post-work extensively. I don't see anything wrong with that. If the main focus of a piece is a fractal, then I would say it belongs here. That said, welcome to the Fractal Forum! BTW, I love the Apo Monster piece! Nick

Fantastic work! I don't see a problem with posting them in fractal, I have seen some here with as much or more postwork. We would love to welcome a new fractalist among us! Treena p.s. I love the "heart in hand" image the most.

I really would be interested in how you would design an image that contains only elements from fractals. IMO creating pure fractals (incl. some post-processing) and creating images using fractals among other elements are two very different talents and perhaps need different kinds of fractals. What do you think about it?

Andreas, I really don't know how I shall answer your question. You know me fairly well, I am pro primo a 2D person. Ten years ago, when I bought my first computer, the reason was Fractals. I had promised myself several years before that, after reading an article abour fractals that totally conqured my mind, that when it was possible to do something like that on a color monitor, then I would buy a computer. And the first program I downloaded was Winfract, after that PaintShopPro. During the years I have more and more cocentrated on 2D. I have a background as a student in an art school, mainly graphic art such as etchings. And has done a lot of watercolors, mostly collages, and textile collages (the love of textile materials has now turned into my love for textures, I only create by computer nowadays). So, I still love fractals, will always do, but my herat is in 2D images, making images that conveys feelings, trying to reach the heart of those who view them. So I will never be an "pure" fractal artist, like many of you here, but integrate fractals in my images now and then is an attractive thing for me. Hope this will answer your question Andreas. I admire the skill of you and other fractal artist, but I will continue my 2D path, sometimes with fractals integrated.

Welcome gunsan! I absolutely love the fractal work you have shown here. I use KPT5 as my fractal software of choice along with Apop at times. KPT5 is a filter to be used with a 2D program like PhotoImpact, PSP and Photoshop...so I guess I work mainly in 2D. If there are any 3D-look images to add, my PhotoImpact does a superb job of doing just that. Happy Fractaling Helen

Thanks Helen, I have KPT too, but I prefer Apophysis because it is faster in renderings. I have not learned any Fractal program thoroughly, UF for example, I am a bit too impatient I think, and hate reading manuals :-)

Now I have uploaded my Apomonster to the gallery. I is the only one of those I showed you, that is not in my 2D Gallwery. Hope you like it, and please feel fre to comment with any critics.
