When I attempt to render in a new window, I get the above message. However, I have lots of RAM and disk space. I had this problem last year, and I remember it was solved with a very simple solution, but I cannot remember what. Kusa

hi Marg- that is Poser default error message when it dosn't know what is happening. Try to defrag first. If that dosn't help- run correct referance- it might not be able to find something. Then- if that dosn't work- try moving things around a little- Then - if THAT dosn't work- one at a time delete things untill you find what is causeing it.
kusanagi73 posted Sun, 29 February 2004 at 2:06 PM
Thank you Ken! I moved some things and it seems to be working for now. I'll have to write these down, just in case this issue pops up again. ^_^
nakamuram posted Sun, 29 February 2004 at 2:26 PM
Write down you virutal memory settings, then set your virual memory to 0 and reboot. After rebooting set your virtual memory back to your original settings and reboot again if you have to. If you still cannot render, delete Poser/runtime/prefs/preferredState.pz3

This is a copy and paste from the CL website: Poser 4 can't render high resolution images. Error appears "Insufficient disk space to render". After some intense investigation we believe we have a work around. It turns out that Windows NT 4, 2000 and Windows XP must be using some space for the pagefile.sys file on the same partition that Poser is installed, to render large images. The pagefile.sys is the virtual memory or temp space for Windows. An approximate minimum would 10 MB. This amount might have to be increased for more complex scenes and animations. The maximum should be 10 MB or greater. To modify the Virtual Memory: Windows NT 4 = Right Click my computer. Click the performance tab. Click change. Click the drive Poser is installed on. Enter 10 in the Initial size field. Enter 500 or more, in the maximum size field. Click set. Click OK. Click OK. Click OK. Restart the System. Windows 2000 = Right click My computer. Select the Advanced tab. Click Performance option. Click Change. Select the drive Poser is installed on. Enter 10 in the Initial size field. Enter 500 or more, in the maximum size field. Click set. Click OK. Click OK. Click OK. Restart the System. Windows XP = Click Start. Right Click My Computer in the menu. Select Properties. Select the Advanced tab. Click Settings, next to Performance. Select the advanced tab. Click Change. Select the drive Poser is installed on. Click the Custom size button. Enter 10 in the Initial size field. Enter 500 or more, in the maximum size field. Click set. Click OK. Click OK. Click OK. Restart the System. Poser will now be able to render up to its maximum size of 4090 pixels x 4090 pixels @ any resolution

Ok, really the simplest fix is to install Poser on a different drive from Windows. You will rarely get the message after that. If you do, it is time to defrag.

Geez, has it been a week already since someone asked this question?
Poser 4 has been around since, what, 1999? 2000? So why do people think that they are the first person to have this issue? Why do they post a new message (and get 4-5 answers) when there are TONS of messages about this issue?
Searching on the word "insufficient" turns up the following: (this doesn't count any threads where the person spelled the word "insufficeint").

There will always be new users who don't know where to look for an answer to this problem. Maybe there should be a P4 and P5 problems FAQ somewhere at Renderosity. Others on this thread including myself have answered this question several times. We'll gladly do so again.

I have asked in the past to have that fix-- the CL one-- put in the backroom under tips or FAQs or something. It does come up often. As you can tell from that long list, I dont mind answering it over and over again. I have it on a notepad on my desktop for such emergencies. Sharon beat me this time.:)) The CL fix is weird but it works. Emily
