After installing every freebie & countless goodies for both Poser 4 & P5, Poser is very slow to do everything. Are there any shortcuts for sppeding Poser up short of deleting all the folders, & reinstalling P5? I spent so much time unpacking everything into the right places... Would decreasing various/all folder sizes, or clearing out/reducing certain folders would be of any help? I am running P5 SR4, Win2k, P4 1.8Ghz 1 GB RAM. Also have a Poser Pro runtime/libraries brimming over with folders & files on the same drive.

I don't know about Poser 5 but if you get too much in Poser4 it really slows it down. I only load what I am going to use most often and only install as I use other things then go and clean out my folders when it starts to slow down again. you just have to make sure you clean everything out dealing with the things you really don't need or use frequently. As I said I don't know how Poser 5 works someone else might be able to help you on that.

seriously think about looking at PBooost as a solution for the slow down :) with it you can organise everything into it's own series of banks ready to be swapped in & out when needed. but be warned you could end up spending more time organising than rendering hehehepack posted Mon, 01 March 2004 at 8:51 PM
I bought Pboost- but wasn't thrilled about running how it worked under FAT32. But I totally forgot till you mentioned it- thanks , that would be a great solution for cutting the overhead in half. I know Poser 5 allows different runtime folder, but I saw no speed increase in P5 after putting over 2/3 of my Pose & Props elsewhwere. I read installing PPP & P5 on separate drives helps. I rarely use PPP anymore, having bought Reiss Studio for my Max exports. I most use PPP runtime for storing all my old libraries for P5. The number of Texture folders & Geometries I have is surely overwhelming. Thanks
