One of the things I have done is to use one of the basic Poser 3/4 Hair objects, partly to match the fictional character who inspired the picture. Using the hair also gives the head a rather better shape, I think, but the Poser Hair objects are designed for human ears.
Anyway, I've done a quick hack to show something which seems a little more plausible. The hair object needs a lot of work before serious use,,such as a bigger mohawk section and tidier edges, but it gets the idea across.
Comments?

It's a start. I've done similar, modifying a number of hairstyles for my own use. You can accomplish a lot with Poser's magnets alone.
I intend to make some special transmapped hair props and conformers shortly, just for furry characters. An earlier hairstyle is already in Free Stuff: the Tiffany Hair for Furrette 1.0.
