Well,........happy birthday ! You've got 4 more years until bodyparts start falling off. I'll tell you what,...51 ain't no bargain either. Like Groucho Marx said "If I'd known I was going to live this long, I'd have taken better care of myself". Carry on.

Happy Birthday! My my, aren't there a lot of us oldies here. I'll be turning 42 later this month. Hubbie hit 41 last year and went off on that midlife crisis thing. I'm still waiting for my turn but I don't have the money to go crazy yet, hehe. Enjoy getting older, its the only way to go.

So what would you all recommend for a mid-life crisis? I can't afford the 18 year old or a Harley...

Incarnadine posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 11:24 AM

Sympathy - HAH! not a chance, been there and done that 41 thing. Congrats, on the other hand are merited. Hope it was a good day for you.

Happy B'day! I just turned 44 last month. Seems to be a trend here. It's nice to know i'm in good company. I think mid-life is a time of reassessment and that it only becomes a crisis if we fight it, ignore it or refuse to make whatever changes might be called for.

PerryMcK posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 3:25 PM

Stop wasting time! talking about IT! Plenty of time for talk later when you are too old and tired to get out. :0) 41 is the time at which you are old enough and experienced enough to do what you dream. Great things to come! Happy Birthday from Mike @ 52

sackrat posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 5:31 PM

Nukeboy,........you could try an 18 year old Harley.

we share the same b-day but I was 33 :)

Nukeboy posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 8:08 PM

Sackrat: An 18 yo Harley would have been rebuilt about four times! Vile: If only we were born ten days later... can you imagine sharing St. Pats?

Vile posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 8:11 PM

Oh yes but I still celebrate it like it were me own! I have a month of birthday not just one day.

Vile posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 8:12 PM

Hey Nuke what is your lucky number?

rickymaveety posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 8:23 PM

Oh, lord ... no sympathy from me, kid. 41 was soooo long ago ... way back in the last millenium. But, happy birthday anyway.

Vile: 13, if you can believe it!

TheBryster posted Tue, 09 March 2004 at 8:01 PM Forum Moderator

41 is the time when you realise you could get killed doing the things you used to do when you were 18! Roller-coasters are a source of more pain than fun! You don't need 4 spoons of sugar in your coffee. You can't go 5-times-a-night with that 18 year old (Although I suppose it depends what US State you live in..) A hang-over is more trouble than it's worth. You need drugs to keep you standing instead of high. Your nightmares actually make sense. And finally......an old family saying... 'You know you're past it when you wake up in the morning and you haven't got a hard-on!'

bikermouse posted Tue, 09 March 2004 at 8:45 PM

LOL I'll bear all that in mind when I turn "41", Bryster. I still enjoy the occasional "roller coaster" ride, although I like the "wild mouse" better, have always drunk my coffee black, don't fret over women under 30, seldom do drugs other than beer and tobacco, haven't had a hangover or even been sick in over 15 years. I still have nightmares (in color) that don't make sense when I dream at all but I'm not complaining. In fact I think my biggest problem is trying not to be a legend in my own mind (and convincing myself I need to get out and run more.) In short life is what you make of it - not what others (mostly relatives) tell you it's supposed to be like.

Nukeboy posted Wed, 10 March 2004 at 6:34 PM

Then there is the fact that it's not the years, it's the mileage! Thanks for all your good wishes! NB

rickymaveety posted Wed, 10 March 2004 at 7:18 PM

Ah, that explains why I apparently look so young. No one has ever put any milage on me. :) Ricky

bikermouse posted Wed, 10 March 2004 at 8:11 PM

Nukeboy, Its not even the milage - its the upkeep: change your oil every 3000 miles, use a good quality fuel(with occasional supliments), keep the ol' engine tuned up, wash and wax often and drive carefully every day. - TJ(works on cars too.)

bigbadelf posted Thu, 11 March 2004 at 9:02 AM

Do you need some help with that mileage thing, Ricky?
