For all the available morphs, the Millenium Cat seems to be missing a few that would enhance realistic posing. Cats have amazing control of their ears, turning them completely around independently to track sounds. I haven't found a way to do that realistically. Our cat gets a "big tail" when she's been frightened. It fluffs up so that it looks twice its normal size over its entire length. The Mil Cat has a tail fluff morph, but it only affects the last 2/3 of its length. Almost the entire tail can be fluffed manually, section by section, except for the tail's connection to the rump. (You can see my attempt at a "big tail" in the last frame here: http://www.renderosity.com/viewed.ez?galleryid=621617) Any suggestions?3ddave44 posted Mon, 08 March 2004 at 2:18 PM
Michael - I think here at Renderosity in freestuff there is a fluff tail for a cat or any creature/critter whose tail is fluffy or can have a fluffed state. I didn't look to see if it was here before telling you, but it's either here or at 3dcommune. Have a look - good luck.

And the Bushy tail is made by Little_Dragon :o) But I haven't noticed that the fluff tail morph didn't cover the whole tail? I'm pretty sure it does on my cat. You DO use the Full Body Morph, right? I agree about the ears.

You just can't put the words "Poserites" and "happy" in the same sentence - didn't you know that? LaurieA
Using Poser since 2002. Currently at Version 11.1 - Win 10.

No postwork. My Millennium Catwoman character in Free Stuff has some additional head morphs that are MilCat-compatible. Just transfer them with Morph Manager or Maconstructor.

It's a poser figure. It has limitations. :)

Even if it wasn't a Poser figure, it would have limitations. Sorry, Anton, but those paws ought to have been spreadable... so that the cat could pounce upon mousies, wash between them, AND take a good swipe at people who didn't worship it on sight. That's like modeling Vicki wearing mittons instead of fingers. Carolly

I thought the paws were spreadable. The paws on the cat in post 4 look wider than the paws of the cat in post 5.

There is a spread morph. But perhaps hauksdottir was hoping for posable toes.

where did that come from?

beats me. Though I think someone complained in another thread that the claws weren't retractable... but the claws are retractable. :) Methinks they don't own the figure and make interesting assumptions. ;)

It looks better when textured, but yes, the paws could use more detail. Unfortunately, there's only so much you can do with a polygonal mesh alone, and without dynamic fur to fill out the underlying form, the model-maker has to approximate the overall shape. A custom thumb morph might help, hauksdottir. I'll take a closer look next week and see if there are enough vertices to make it possible.

Thank you, and Skrogg thanks you. She's having a rough night. An orange tom keeps coming inside... and he peed on her catnip mouse. I can wash the tablecloth, but her mouse might be a lost cause. :( Carolly

Yes, there are some issues there, every model always will have some. However, the paws were a nice evolutionary jump over the P4 cat. And I think I made the right decisions on amount of detail vs. a polygon budget. And yes, the amounts of toe detail, and ear fold detail, inner mouth details, was territory I covered quite a few times. Clearly in the future, when the average computer hardware base is more robust, allowing me a larger budget to work with, I can address percieved weaker areas; assuming confidently that there will be newer versions of the cat

Laugh at Caly's pics... yes that Coon has quite furry feet! She must be twice the size of Skrogg (my Wegie is less than 9 pounds). However, even your dainty little lady cat has rounded toes showing through her fur. MallenLane, We understand tough choices. I would have left off the whiskers and eyebrows and used those polys elsewhere. They don't even show at medium distance. They can be painted in or smart propped (I have Jackie's whisker prop for the P4 cat) if whiskers are needed. If the whiskers were separate, then statues of Bast, etc., would look better. And as a separate prop, they can be curled or lengthened or styled to match the breed. I'd also recommend grouping with collar pieces. That would hopefully allow for placing the legs together properly in front and the up and down motion of the shoulder-blades. I remember CGA art, although I was fortunate not to have to deal with stick figures. We have come a long way in 15 years. The future can only bring more possibilities. Carolly

I'm seriously looking forward to advanced technology. I just love how computers are changing and improving and even video game consoles are getting sophisticated. Now if only all of the prices would hurry up and drop before I die of old age. :D
