I see that Poser 4 takes motion capture data (what's that file type again?) Is there any good motion capture software out there that's not prohibitively expensive? I don't have the budget for commercial packages (the stuff that you see on those "making of" documentaries). Anything on the consumer level? (Maybe $200-$900?)

BVH is the format. http://www.gameprogrammer.com/links/motioncapture.html -JH.

If you can still find MetaCreations' "Dance Studio" program, you can generate tons of realistic dance moves in BVH format. Although the program was intended to be a kids' toy, it outputs very good results. I've seen it online for about $11.00.

For that matter there are tons of Dance studio BVH samples on the Poser4 content CD.

Right, Jeff. I should have mentioned that too.

Try Credo interactive, they sell sell BVH files but they called it MOCAP, they have different sets for different animations, you can preview all of them before buying and each motion is only $1.00 each, many of them are very long. I extract everything from Poser content CD and I did not a ton of BVH....just a few Claude
