Well, the above package is nearly finished, I just have to do some final tweaking on the joint parameters. BUT... I have no idea what to call it. Privateer. Works as pirate, sea, and sci fi. Dunno what era your trying for, was 1st thing that came to my mind looking at the image. Lauvishian Guard. Lauvishians born on a water world are a natural ship dwelling civilisation, when they discovered wrecked space techknowlogy they soon became a powerful force in the sector. The Lauvishian Guard patrol the sector and act as transports for the Merchant Guild of Oknifa. shrug I just make this stuff up shrug Interesting design on the shirt, looks good.

By the way, there will be a swordbelt with rapier hangers, and rapiers parented both to the belt, and to each hand...

Man and I ACTUALLY thought my idea was good. Oh well good luck to everyone!

Unfortunately, the top and the bottom of the outfit do not match. Not in style, not in finesse, and not in technology of construction. Usually leatherworking is at a higher tech level than fabric/textile making. If the boots were either trimmer, or floppier with dagging and cut-outs, they would better fit with the quality of the shirt and jacket... as it is, they are just clunky. The top reminds me of a scifi hero named Riff (IIRC) a minor diplomat who had a wildly decorated wardrobe of hemi-demi-semi afternoon-reception wear and such. (I never read the books because he wasn't the sort of character I liked.) Carolly Carolly

It reminds me of the 1950's epic adventure flics. So how about the SwashBuckler for M3? I love the top, but the boots -are- a tad clunkie. He needs a big belt buckle too. Geeze, everybodies a critic. I'd buy it as is.

Valandar, Yes. But it will make it a better package. I've sketched a couple of simple styles here. One is sleek, relying upon the welt (traveling over the foot, around the boot, splitting, forming chevrons, and tucking in) to give it shape and flow. This is more like your shoulders with the *suggestion* of overlapping fabric. The second is very traditional, but this time using the welt from the lapels and echoing that notch. You can nock the top, too, if desired. Carolly

And, taking a lead from the slashed sleeves, I looked in a costuming book (one of many) and pulled out these boots from Portuguese explorers and navigators of 1500-1540. Nice detailing in the knees. The pink one is my favorite... with the slashing on the toes reminiscent of tiger claws. :) I don't think you'd have to actually model the slashes: with the right texture and bump map you'd get "the look". Besides, what could be more dashing than sailing off the edge of the known world? Hope this helps! Carolly

Even if you redo the boots you don't have to scrap the old ones. They still look nice. Sell 'em seperately or use them as part of another package.

Whatever you do, there are different ways you can go, just make them as nice as the top. And if they are distinctive, so much the better! {hug} Carolly BTW, I can get you more pictures if needed. Men were real peacocks for a couple of centuries!

JMHO, But when I saw this set, it seemed to reflect more of the cavalier, dashing, Musketeer, Buccaneer, heroic character. In fact the boots and the slashed sleeves were worn together in this type of costume. The Musketeer, Cavalier wardrobe spans many decades and countries. The most popular movie that comes to my mind is the 1940's Three Musketeers with Gene Kelly. An outfit very similar to this won was worn by the characters. There was of course the 1993, version, the boots were in both versions as well as the genre of the costume. It may be that the boots need more definition and texture. But this outfit as far as the sleeves, boots and jacket (though that may have been a bit longer) is not far off from many costumes which depict that type of Musketeer, Cavalier character. I've attached a couple of pictures, that show my point. So if this is the type of character set you were going for Valandar, I think you should stick with it and finish it. You could always do some additional research to decide exactly what type of image or character you want to portray with the set, and make modifications as you see fit. You are off to a good start!
