This Carrara newbie found this toggle once and made the tool keyboard shortcuts sticky. Now I want to set it back again but I can't find the checkbox, or even the dialog box for that matter! Part of learning a new interface, but thank the gods you people are here to ask! - Bill

It's on the General Tab of the Preferences (Ctrl+Sht+P).

Thanks, falconperigot. Jeez, I looked at that dialog/tab at least three times & didn't it! Musta been more tired than I thought!
