With this interesting discourse going on, an idea occured to me. How about a feature that let's you ignore discussion posts from certain users? Thoughts?

As someone who would probably frequently get Ignored, I have to say: "No, but an Ignore Thread option would be nice - some threads (and even forums) just have no use for me, and it would be nice to just block them off."

I wouldn't ignore you CB. You're usually well spoken and reasoned, no matter what else is going on around you. I'm of divided opinions on this, just at first glance. It takes way too much time... but in the midst of controversy, I like to see and read all viewpoints before I form an opinion. Still it might be nice to block on occassion. How would your idea work, CB? Block off forums from the menu bar that we never visit? Like say, Carrera or JASC PSP in my case?

sounds like a great Idea I would like to add some users to the ignore list :)

How about "block" in the art galleries? There are some people here who (to be honest) cronically post disgusting material to the galleries, and I'd prefer never to see it at all. Now, with that harsh criticism, I'll go crawl back under my rock (for now).

Had to come back and revive this one RC. Lately this is starting to look like a wonderful idea. Save a lot of agravation...

I would have to agree on being split on this one. Though it does take up a lot of bandwidth to read the constant rabble of some.. it also makes the thread really hard to read when 1/2 the comments are "missing". You already have a "hide forum" feature.. which I use, since I don't want to be reminded that I can't afford 3Ds or Lightwave :p

Lately I'm thinking more that an "Assassinate This User" switch might be in order... ;-)

Ignore User/Thread (y/n) Name to ignore: ignore Thread to ignore: ignore this would probably keep the servers happily occupied for hours on end :)
