Why is it that you lock threads requesting cracks, but leave the original message with the guy's email clearly visible? What purpose does that actually serve when the message is a request to contact him about a crack via his email? It's not like new posts to that thread bump it to the top of the forum again. Keeping his email in the thread still allows crackers and pass traders to exchange info. Why not delete the thread or message entirely? Just curious.

Maybe they need to keep it as evidence when they ask the warez dude's ISP to terminate his account.

maxx: (reply from a non-moderator) Since I assume you are reffering to "the clown", below, why don't we all gang up, contact a spammer and flood his e-mail... Just a thought (j/k - errm, I think..)

" Maybe they need to keep it as evidence when they ask the warez dude's ISP to terminate his account." That could be, but I doubt they actually do that. "Since I assume you are reffering to "the clown", below, why don't we all gang up, contact a spammer and flood his e-mail..." LOL!! Now there's an idea. Anyone know some good spammers? ;P

Most isp's don't actually take any action when you report them anyway (every time I see someone make a wartez post in a newsgroup, a whole swarm of people announce that they reported him, but weeks later, he's still there with the same IP info, so I assume that the ISP's are reluctant to pull the plug on a paying customer...

Nope, but I know some very dubious people who could remotely trash his computer<< Every time I walk thru the lounge of Penn State's IST building I pass lots of peole talking about their hacking skills and how there's no such thing as a firewall they can't get thru... If the Clowning thinks he can hack and make viruses, he's never been up against a room full of CS majors with nothing better to do...

LOL @kbennet - it gave us all the chance to get all silly and giggly and orotund and verbose and it was FUN!!! Mind you - I'm glad it stopped when it did - I'm running out of beer... Cheers, Diolma (PS "orotund": "full and round in utterance,; pompously mouthing or uttering" (Chambers 1990) - maybe the others weren't but I probably was; Still giggling)

Make a post to alt.sex (Usenet) with his email address in the "from" field. Just put something dumb in it like "Anyone know any good porn sites?" He'll get more spam than he knows what to do with. bonni

hmmm I just had another idea on this, how about sweet talking an admin into setting his account here to have ebots sent from every forum on the site, that should blow his email in a day on its own.

"orotund" ? Yup. Real word. NEW Scrabble word. I can always use another good Scrabble word. :) When one of the Mars landers discovered "vugs" in that rock, I was ecstatic. vuggy, vuggier, vugiest. Not only had millions been spent to send back a new Scrabble word, but now I knew what those holes in the rocks here on earth were called. Carolly Note: I do not lie or bluff at Scrabble... but some of the words I put down are so outrageously improbable that my opponents have to challenge. :)=

Ah, yes... Pease porridge hot, pease porridge cold, Pease porridge in the pot, nine days old! Some of us still remember the original form. Perhaps because I detest split pea soup no matter how fresh it is. ;p Thanks for that link. I've bookmarked it, since it appears that the site has lots of othr neat stuff to ponder. Carolly

Hey, bonni! How did you know that trick? Just many years on the net, many of them happily spent posting to Usenet. I even used to post to alt.sex, back in the days when people actually had intelligent conversations there (we're talking 1993 or so ;). I've had to retire all of the email addresses I used on Usenet because the spammers discovered that they could get victims that way. bonni
