For the moment, I have only a limited selection of my books shelved ... someday, the rest will be also. I cleared odds and ends at the top of a bookcase for these and decided to share a visual here. I know that the flash glare is objectionable -- the easiest way for me to fix that will be to bring in some of my studio lights. -- Or wait for a day that is not overcast. A question ... when I post the finished image to the Galleries, would it be overkill to post the names of books and/or names of the artists? MGD

Those were discarded from a college library and about to be thrown away when a friend retrieved them and gave them to me. As to the question of label/index ... no, it would bore me to tears to do that. My method is to group the books by category and then within that either chronologically or by author. Some categories near the group pictured ... History or Philosophy of the Middle ages; History of Technology; Celtic History + Ornamentation (interlace); History of food/historic recipes; History of Theater (Chaucer to Shakespeare); History of Fashion; History of Music/Dance; History of Art (in addition to those in this picture); Herbs, Herbalism, Medical practice; 25 Screen plays; an entire bookcase of computer stuff; odds and ends like Grays Anatomy and the DSM IV. ... Oh yeah, and 2 shelves of SF and fantasy ... in that bookcase. Aren't you glad you asked? LOL MGD

which ones? botticelli, duerer, louvre, the lure of paris & italy, fantasy art, deco... i'd flip through them all given the chance :] i categorized the same way... & doesn't everyone have a Gray's Anatomy? i do very good list of categories btw here's one of my shelves... :] hehe

you guys have a lot of books...and costumes:) lots of art books and other intersting stuff....gourd musical instruments looks curious...i don't have grays anatomy or many art books,my interest is only just starting to take of in this area. mostly automotive stuff...lol alot to do with my early interest and work. only recently began buying photography stuff. maybe a picture later today :)

Some time ago, I bought some Renaissance Clothing from Moresca while I was at the Maryland RenFaire -- 2 square necked shirts with embroidery tape front and back; a 15th C. surcoat. As I drove home, without even having a specific image in mind, I wanted to search Google images for Albrecht Durer -- within the first 80 thumbnails, I found his "Self Portrait at age 26" -- the shirt in the painting was a close match to the shirts just purchased. As to the book ... earlier this year while at an event called Market Day at Birka and dressed as you see here, I saw "Albrecht Durer (Masters of German Art Series) by Anja-Franziska Eichler, Albrecht Durer -- of course I bought it. you look quite handsome in your Renaissance attire! with an interesting Durer story... cheers! & no, i don't have the "Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders" but i do have Robbins Textbook of Pathology with Clinical Applications & a PDR... hope that will suffice :]

Yes, definitely the guy teaching the class at Pensic XXX. [In the DSM IV I'm sure there is a whole section devoted to those poor unfortunates who insist on putting all their books in line. Dusted even!]

@Misha883 I'm happy to hear that you are able to recognize me now when my garb is Italian Ren (more or less) instead of what I was wearing when I gave that class: The Feileadh Mor (Great Kilt). Same cup then and now. In any case, Well met! BTW, if you lost your handout for that class, I could send you a copy. Re: DSM IV ... you might be thinking of OCD ... about which my Psych professor in the early 70's said, "In the trade, we refer to them as Obsessive Repulsives." LOL MGD

wish i could just sit here & look through the books... @Ronesh... yep, lots of racing but also lots of other interesting subjects in art & photography & femme fatale? :] hard to get the sharpness just right to see the titles i know, it took me awhile makes me want to go to the big city & see what i can find on sale at "Half-Price Books"! guess i'll go look through the gallery pictures instead...

hi, yep that was my third try at getting the size right...lol. most books are discount books, meant to be damaged but if you look you can find good ones. femme fatale...it's a book of portraits of current female actors/models/singers dressed and photographed in period(?) dress. from 1900 to 2000. some interesting portraits here.

....ahhh it's nice looking at all these books -- my problem is that I've moved too much over the years - and these suckers are heavy! --- so I always ended up selling them - or giving them away ( after going thru so much trouble to find and buy them )-- but now, I'm cool with it -- don't need a huge library -- same with DVD's and CD's --- just pared to essence - those few you must have! --- I feel a lot lighter!....can't take'm with you in the end anyway!..........but , don't get me wrong -- I absolutely LOVE books!

quickly got over it --- realized I don't have to OWN these things

Ventures lp....> tear

that's tough :( guess the records were meant to be... i realize i don't need all this stuff... reminds me of the George Carlin's bit on "Stuff"! worth a listen :]
