This is for those of you having trouble with compression. There is a great tool out there called Bink and Smacker which has excellent compression. But don't take my word for it. Here is the proof. The AVI on the left is full frames uncompressed, the one on the right with a Bink compressor. I compressed it at 96 to 1 which is unheard of for AVI compression and decent quality. While maintaining 24bit color quality I went from 220mb to 2.37mb. This compressor is the S**T! See for yourself

Well I took your advice and got Bink and Smacker. You didn't lie. Right off the bat I compressed a 39MB AVI file down to 1.25MB without even adjusting any of the settings. Wow , the quality was amazing, some of the best compression I've ever seen, the only thing that bothers me is the fact that you end up with a mutant file. But for your own movies to give to your friends it's a great thing. Mabye later it will be AVI compatible with a standard media player.

Don't forget though that if you click advanced play - you can compile the file to an executable (.exe) which (PC) users can run without having the plugin player. It adds about 700K to the file (I think). Check it out. I love bink and smacker - I've known of smacker since '93 or so. They're both great compression methods. See some of my binked animations at my site. They're pkzipped. Unzip and play. and one .mov file. all tests, all with music. Working on an elaborate one. - Dave
