Thumbs.db? I don't know what it is, I tried to copy the Poser4 Runtime as backup before I start cleaning up/deleting old files. I'm dangerousy close to overload. Suddenly this message pops up. Does anybody know what it is all about?

Some time ago a vendor explained to me what those "db" files were, but I don't remember what she said. However, they are useless and okay to delete. Can't say about that ":encryptable:$DATA" thing, though. I've deleted many db files and never got that message.

The solution is quite simple: When using the thumbnail preview mode of windows explorer for grafic files Windows XP generates an internal database for the thumbs with the extension *db. Normally it's hidden and encrypted because it's handled as a system file. If you choose 'show all extensions' you may click on it and delete it before you make a copy. It's more or less useless.(and definitely no original part of your runtime) The error message normally occurs when you try to save the folder on a CD or another storage.

I used to remember when I used to use Paintshop Pro on Win98, whenever viewing files in the 'open' dialogue, Thumbs.db files were generated as well.

I would also advise when unzipping files delete the .db(database file) before extracting. I've had a few downloads whether they are free or purchased that come with this file type included.

Thumbs.db is a windows thunbnail information file...you know when you view a folder in the "Thumbnails" mode, that's the info file it leaves behind....they are normally hidden files...you find a lot of them in peoples zip files (my pet peeve) because they don't bither to uncheck the "Add system & hidden files" checkbox....they are harmless and you can delete them all you want...
