Hi everyone! I've been playing with the Cararra demo for a while and I really like the program. Before I purchase it though, I was wondering if there are training CDs or really good tutorials for beginners anywhere? I saw the training CD on the Eovia site but it's a bit too expensive for me ($95). Are there any others? Does Cararra come with a handbook that has tutorials?

I have found the Carrara manual to be very helpful. There is another book out called The Carrara Stuido Handbook. It is full of tutorials. I've just started reading this one... So far, it it very good.

I'd really recommend the Carrara Studio 3 Handbook by Mike de la Flor. It's full of excellent tips and tutorials and has all the scene files on a CD (plus demo versions of many plugins such as the brilliant stuff from Digital Carvers Guild).

There's also tutorials here in the backroom and the resource CD we sell here has several. -Kix

I have been using trueSpace 6 until now, but I am very interested in Carrara. I particularly like the interface a lot more, as well as many of the additional features coming with ver. 3. One thing that bothers me slightly is what seems to be a rather limited range of modelling tools: the spline and vertex modeller. Since carrara itself does not have nurbs modelling, how easy or difficult is it to model organic shapes? Please enlighten me on the subject. Cobus
