I want to take a 2D square and use a JPEG image for the texture. I also want to use a transparency on the same image so that the square doesn't have edges. EX: figure of a person, with a trans map or something around it so only the person shows up. So I basically want the person to be clear without having the boarder of the square it's on... now how do i do it, i hope i've explained it okay?!

This question comes up a lot, particularly with users who are fairly new to the program. This link to an older forum post should clarify things. If not, let us know.

Here's a quick set-up that usually works: You'll need two images, the color image you want to use and an alpha image with all that you want to be transparent colored black and all that you want to see colored white. In Bryce click the gold "Leo" man in the Create palette, this will open the Pic Editor. Click on an empty brown slot and select the color image from the file selector. The image loads into the left preview box. Now click the load button above the middle preview box and load the alpha image. Click OK and Render - that should do it for most basic stuff. HTH; Dan

you didn't marble your transparency channel.

Marble the trans channel? what do you mean?

Remember: when you go to make your pict object click on the "Leo" icon, not the 2d square icon. If you click on Leo your transparency and other settings will be done for you, assuming your mask is set correctly.

The diffuse, ambient, and transparency channels are already set for you if you click "Leo" first...
