I will have something to post in the next day or so on my secret project - I am past the point of no return now - I am sure it will be built, but I don't want to present it until its a little further along. I want it to look good when I unvail it for the first time. marty :)

Hi everyone, Hi hack, I feel so lazy and so guilty. I have been obsessed with my new project that I almost forgot about everything else. This work you are doing is inceadable 3dZone. It is very hard to make conforming clothing and you are obviously doing it. I consider modeling to be roughtly twenty five percent of the work in making an item for the market place, the other seventy-five percent belonging to the rigging for poser and promotion or what I like to call "post modeling". Obviously you are learning alot of post modeling methods. I am always here to help. Nanoshi, I appoligise for not having your requests done sooner. I am putting highest priortity on your stuff now. marty

Hey, if any of you remember I had this one problem with updating my Poser 4 to the latest version.....well, i did a clean reinstall and then updated it before installing my downloads and everything works! Thanks to whoever suggested it! This means that the catsuit and the senbotsu headset work flawlessly now.....^_^ Also, since I am no good at modeling, i'm in the making of a face and pose pack. If you've ever seen the "So it was good for you too" face sets for posette, this is what it's be like, except for the anime doll. If you've never seen that face set, in short, the package i'm making will make it look like someone is making out with her......nuff said.......

I assume the cyber-arm goes atop the arm or replacement for the arm? Where does it hook into? The shoulder? Just below? Where the actual model breaks?
Nanoshi posted Tue, 13 April 2004 at 3:10 AM
Well I originally thought to replace the arm, but decided to place it over the arm instead, it will attatch to the arm just under the armpit. The human shoulder is a very complex design, so in reality to replace an arm with a cyberlimb just under the armpit is more than likely where they would take the limb from, and in deed this is where most of todays prosthetic limbs fit too. of course later science could make a full cyberlimb including shoulder joint and spine strengthening attatchments and maybe even bone lacing to strengthen the skeleton and then in theory you could lift cars above your head. With this cyber limb thought you would get a stronger grip, enhanced digital dexterity and the ability to hold onto something without getting tired (at least in the grip). Plus it has a sleek design and comes in many different colours and finishes ;)

I've just tested the stringsuit and I must say I'm impressed. Marty's work is usually great, but he outdid himself on this one. I have tried very extreme poses with this outift and it always conformed perfectly. Not a single poke-through, not a fault. Great outfit indeed. The textures are pleasant (even on such small areas...) and apply faultlessly in poser5. I used it on the image linked above. Thanks again Marty !insomniaworks posted Thu, 15 April 2004 at 8:38 AM
Great Renders Compiler and Nanoshi! Thank you for the praise of the bikini. I know I didn't make enough textures for it. Please please, do some freestuff textures for this. It is really easy to do because it involves so little fabric. I included three maps with the package, one that shows the position of the fabric and two others to show the position of the straps. With the straps - I layed them out on the map so they would be scale with any fabric layed flat over the whole map. In other words, like with all my products, I like to make them easy to texture "on the fly" by using any flat repetitive texture if one wishes. The Straps are split and overlapping one another in a couple places, but the trade off is that they are scale with the fabric and making the best use of space on the map. I am assuming that one would use a flat-repetitive texture on the strings and may be a little more creative with the fabrics. Both breast are layed out side by side and crotch right next to them. There is a square piece of material that represents the back half of the crotch, but since the geometry becomes so narrow here. One other tip for users is.....avoid the forward and backward movements on the "chest" with this swimsuit or at least know the consiquences. There is a trouble spot that occures with ALL clothing in the shoulderblade area. Naturaly a poke thru will occure here. Most of the time I fix this with a morph or JCM, but this is a string this time and not a real clothing. I considered putting in a jcm, but with the way the string is already distorting in that area with Chest back and fore movements, adding another morph would only make it look worse. I decided its best to advise to avoid this problem rather than try a futile attempt at fixing it. --- Most natural bends can be tansfered to the abdomen rather than chest - thus avoiding the familiar shoulder blade trouble spot. Actually this is a very minor problem that some of you expect already and thats why you are not mentioning it - but I am pointing it out for full disclosure - Other than that, this swimsuit looks real good to me also, hehehe, if I can say so my self. It conforms real well and moves rather realsiticaly with the body in different poses. Also I attempted to make this work over a broader base of charactors. I purchased markdc's clothes converter but decided that I could do everything that he does better the way I already do it with poser magnets - besides, I can save magnets for future use. I think that the clothes converter will be a handy tool in the future needs such as a morph and geometry manipulation tool, but is isn't a solve all for clothing charactor conversions. I always come to the conclusion that it is wiser to remake the clothing rather than try to convert it to reach my level of quality. In conclusion, I am making my clothing fit animedoll perfectly rather than making them fit a whole host of characters. marty

Thanks Marty, I have made a second version of my pic, more light hearted (may be because the first one was posted at night ?) and where the stringsuit is better seen in all it's glory... ;) As for flat repetitive textures, they are easy to do in Poser5 : just plug a piece of fabric texture, tile it in the node's settings and there you go. As you said, your UV map is really well suited for this.The3dZone posted Thu, 15 April 2004 at 10:57 AM

Looks very cute though I like the little turn up wings with the 'pods' on them. you might want to move the airrefuling nozzle over to one side as it would obsucre the pilots vision in it's current place. very nice model though :)

Great look indeed ! Since it may be time for suggestions : 1-as Nanoshi said the refueling pylon is really looking odd here, even for anime. It should be rotated 15-30 to the right. 2-The glass part of the nose was characteristic of the WW2 bombers. A man crouched in them to observe the ground and open the bombs trap when the crosseye was on target. In modern fighters the nose is crammed full of electronics. I'd suggest to make 2 versions : one with the glass cockpit and a huge "anime" bomb (something like the Rocket50 at RDNA) and one replacing the glass part with a huge pin mounted Vulcan cannon with 6 barrels (and a shark grin painted on the fuselage). 3-Where is the engine ? Is it a jet ? if so, where are the reactors ? 4-I would make the tires less thin. Jets often have much larger tires to better dampen the landing shock. Well, I hope I haven't been too pesky on this one. I'm looking forward to see your project finished !
insomniaworks posted Sat, 17 April 2004 at 8:33 AM
I appriciate all your sugestions and I will take them all into consideration, but I am builing a particular image rather than a vehicle. Considering that I am modeling in "Toon" mode, I am relaxing on making it totally realistic. So that said, please make sugestions! But, it don't mean I will take them, lol. In a way I am creating this one just like I want and putting out there for buyers to choose to buy if they choose. This is my own selfish artistic expression. Ins the second picture I rotated the refueling pylon probably about 7 degrees off center. I put refueling pylon there because I made the front end resemble or have some of the personality or remind one of the A6 Intruder which has always been one of my favorite aircaft. I do know that the there are there are two positions side by side and the pylon would be between them. If the pylon bothers everyone so much, I will remove it, but to me it looks cool. Next subject, front canopy---new this might be a contriversal subject. I put it there for two reasons. I copied the idea from another anime picture that had a similar bubble in front for a purpose I could not understand. By the way, I also copied the reactor pods almost exactly from the same anime picture. Second reason is I didn't want to hide the anime doll away - this will make the animedoll more visable thus giving the aircaft a almost clothing characteristic. This canopy makes no sense at all, I understand and only belongs on a bomber, LOL, but I did it because its anime. What are those reactor pods doing out there, I don't have any idea...Like I said, I copied that aspect from an anime picture that I will post in a later reply. Why did I do the wheels like I did, because she is "pimped" hehehe. I made them thin profile on purpose like a pimped car. Make no sence on a fighter, I know LOL. I appriciate all your feedback, but look at cartoons and anime and ask your self how many of the vehicles make sence---none of them do,....LOL. Also this gives the artist has the ability create his own technology, no matter how outlandish, to explain. I must also point out for interest sake, that the anime picture used for inspiration, left no room in the aircraft for landing gear. Also the the fuselage unrealistally short. It was a struggle putting retractable landing gear in a fuselage so short. When I was a child, I went to the smithsonion air and space musium and saw the one of those tiny rocket fighters made by germany during the world war II. I couldn't believe the thing had aerodynamics to fly. It had no landing gear, just a skid. So I guess what I am trying to say, that this fighter resembles something you might find in the list of german secret aircraft in production or on the drawing board during world war II. marty

Marty, the aircraft is fine :) I actually like the bubble on the front, lets here see what's beneathe her when she looks down, nothing wrong with that conception, could for taking photo's or tricky stunts. There are actually alot of 'bubble' planes like this flying today so don't worry about it. the Fuel Pylon is fine I was just a little concerned about her visiblity but it's no biggy. I'd still like to see a vulcan cannon though (3 barrelled one not a 6 one, 6 is too much like an A10). but like ya say it's anime and no those vehicles don't make sense especially the transforming mecha.

Ideal setting for an anime adventure I think, you could have fun making lots of team colours and strips and focus on a main 'hero team' and have a sutiable baddy team could be fun. thought of calling it 'Glaive-Ball' I am gonna jot some ideas down and it would be fun to get everyone involved on strip design :)

Nanoshi: I must add that it was you that inspired me to begin building this. I was thinking of it as part of the Battle Force Senbotsu line. When you began working on your hi tech models, I began to think how I would build them and began doing so. I am worried about building this, I must tell you, I am in unfamiliar territory with this project. I hope the end product is what I expect and what you would want, but its iffy. Like I said, my biggest worry right now is the uvmap, it promises to be the one of the most difficult yet. This aircraft has so many parts its going to be a nightmare. Secondly I am worried about making the retracting landing gear work well. I am going to be dealing with strange angles here instead of right angles and this will be difficult I feel. I am consideering doing some remodeling to the reactor pods and converting them to weapons housings. I would plan in doors that will open and weapons deployed. But I have to make room for the landing gear which holds top priority. Third thing is I am going to make hinges for the landing gear doors and I am afraid that I don't have enough room for them. Forth thing is how good is it going to sell? Will it be worth building a second item like this one? My guess is that it will take about 100 hours to build or less if everything goes well. I got lots of worries. marty

Speaking of flying armor, I'm revisiting an old freebie named "Titan armor". The original design was from a RPG (paper) game named "rifts", and the original model was made by jbezorg (see link for a great pic he made with it). Unfortunately the model was quite flawed (much too many polygons, missing polys or reversed normals). I'm in the process of adapting it to AnimeDoll (using Marty's catsuit). I have e-mailed and Imed the author but got no success in reaching him so far, so I don't know if I'll get the authorisation to bring this to freestuff. No problem, Marty. I don't want to cause any loss of sales for you. This project has waited on my shelf for many weeks, it can wait even more, until your plane's sales are over (I can't sell it since I wasn't the one who made the mesh and Viomar did so much work on it). If I finish it before getting your green light, I'll just send it to you, and you'll see if you want to make it available to your usual team or in the freestuff. Is that all right with you ? For the moment, I'm learning how to model. But I'm a much slower learner than Nanoshi... Don't loose hope over a little slow down in the sales, it will get better : you're doing an excellent work (your swimsuit was most excellent), so it will pay in the end.

Come on Nanoshi, I was joking, you know. Men are not only walking testosterone tanks... On the other hand, you "blame" us guys for the hentai/schoolgirl genre, and you select "Urotsukidoji: Legend of the Overfiend" in your list... tsss tsss tsssk... ;) More seriously, my favourite is Silent Mobius (I'm a big fan of the cyberpunk genre, I mean the "Blade Runner" genre, not the techno-gothic). Roujni Z is a close second, with its very poetic metaphor on the replacement of human feelings by machines and the solitude of old age. Akira, the Bublegum suite (AD police, Bubblegum crisis, Bubblegum crash), Armitage, GunnM, Crying Freeman, Ghost in the Shell and Apple Seed are in my first division. On a lighter note, "You're under arrest" is quite fun. "Darkside Blues" and "Forbidden city" have a darker tone (and there are a few hentai scenes in Forbidden city as well), but I like their overall mood. Well, that's all I can think of for the moment.
Nanoshi posted Sun, 25 April 2004 at 12:13 PM
hehehe I don't mind the schoolgirl stuff, and I like horror stuff hence the Urotsukidoji. Ah, how could I forget Silent Mobious, yes I love that too, and especially Cyberpunk style stuff too, forgot all about Armitage, another good series, and Devil Hunter Yohko. hehehe there are so many :) I think we all should create one between us and do characters and images for it. maybe we should do a story in the gallery by passing the action on to each other like a creative tag or something lol, might be fun. I still fancy working on my future sport scenario when I'm better maybe we could take a character each from a 'Glaive Ball' team and do a series based on their exploits on and off the pitch during a season.

I was playing unreal tournament 2004 yesterday and I got to thinking... "Wouldn't it be cool to have some battle force senbotsu models running around in here? is there anything anyone has seen that can help me out? what is involved in converting a poser model to a game model? specifically, an UT2004 model. now that I think about it, I have quite a few poser models besides my darling anime doll that I'd have a ton of fun playing with in FPS games. I realize that I would probably have to dramatically reduce some poly counts (one of the few 3d modeling terms I know =P) to get it playable, but I think that's a small price to pay to be able to customize a player model with poser =) again, gomennasai for the curve ball

There is some software Triggermansam which lets you do various figures from 3D formats for game characters like UT. 3dzone, you're playing with my heart... I'd support the opinions on the first dress : it looks like a killer, but the cloth should not be so close to the body unter the chest and on the groin area. As for transfering a Poser character to URT, may be that Milkshape3D works : it is the program used to make SIMS. Off topic : my Poser HD controler is dead... I won't be able to use Poser for the next few days... BOOOHOO ! You know what : I'm unhappy. I'll try to teach myself a bit of Cinema 4D instead.

Others I enjoy: Cowboy Beebop Trigun (I love the humor in this one) Iria Outlaw Star Witch Hunter Robin (haven't finished this one yet, they licenced it quick so the fan subs may not get finished) Seems like the ones I like the most are the more off beat ones (at least for anime) like noir and R.O.D.

Hi guys I just wanted to show you a piccy I did today using the Behemoth from Sixus1, he makes an excellent Anime 'Brute' figure and I even put animedolls eyes into his sockets as a bit of a conversion, which I might make available if it's ok with MayaX. I have been talking with Sixus1 though and although it's just in the planning/talk stage at the moment, he is considering making a Behemoth release which will have anime eyes and similar eye morphs to animedolls and maybe some hair. Now like I said we are just talking at the moment and nothing may come of it so don't be bothering him or anything at this stage, but if he does decide to go with it, not only will we get a 'male' anime character at last but it will be the ever present 'Brute' steriotype too so popular in alot of anime movies and series :) I know I'm excited :) for those of you who don't know, Behemoth is a free dowload from either the free section here or over at Sixus1's site.

nanoshi: free download for the behemoth, but is it based on another character (michael 2 or 3) or is it an independant one ? btw here the face is a bit too feminine (not enough brute/macho like) but well yes it is an anime stereotype, but in anime we also have tall thin pretty young men as vilains/bad guies too. as well as the classical "girl popular classmate" too... anyway nice pic :) really funny
Nanoshi posted Wed, 28 April 2004 at 5:34 AM
Riddokun: yeah it's an independant figure, and yeah I know we have the other types of steriotypes as well, but you can use animedoll for the Bishonen type guys and even anime males with a bit of work, but the brute is a bit harder to do, but Behemoth makes a good model for that, hence my involvment in getting him animefied. As I understand it MayaX is creating a male animedoll although I havn't heard any news on this for awhile. as for his face you can change it to look as brutish and macho as you like, so don't worry about that :) oh and animedolls hair fitted on his head with no need to scale or adjust other than position :) like I said this guy is free, so use him :)

Thanks for mentioning Behemoth over here, Nanoshi! And yes, Nanoshi and I are discussing the details of what it would take to bring a full-on Anime build of Behemoth out. For those not familiar with Behemoth, he is part of our Project:Human line of free human figures. Currently, the others have been temporarily shelved while we work on updates and enhancements for them. I'm really excited to be talking with Nanoshi about doing this and plan to put it at the top of our production schedule as soon as we have worked out a few details. It honestly hadn't dawned on me to try to make Behemoth an anime character until Nanoshi posted a copy of the render shown above over at our site... funny... one can create a figure with thier own needs in mind, but you never really know what kind of life it'll take on once others take interest in it. That's a very cool thing. :)
