Who's got the skinny on the definitive Poser Handbook? Which one should I buy? Can I get it at Amazon? Thanks for your help, Susan

Don't buy the one by Shamms Mortier. I haven't heard anything but bad about that one.

I was one of the stupid ones who bought it way back when it first came out and it's pretty bad. The illustrations are pathetically laughable. They're amateur at best. He doesn't even have his camera focal setting adjusted, so they look all distorted. Every illustration is obvious that he left all settings on default. Some of the images of the face morphs are so ridiculously exaggerated and hideous, no one would ever want to do them. You'll learn absolutely nothing from it. In fact, I can't even find my copy right now. It's stowed away somewhere collecting dust. What a waste of money!!! If you want to learn photorealistic 3D art for Poser, that's not the place to find it. His examples all look like cartoons. Melanie

Melanie reported the same thing I have heard forever...the one not to buy is the Mortier book. I think the thing costs nearly $50. at Amazon. If you feel you have to have it try eBay for a used copy. You can learn more from hanging out at forums and asking questions, reading tutorials here and at other places than you will learn from any book on the market.

I was already warned about Shamms Mortier by rickymaveety (Photography/Bryce artist). I didn't see anything at Amazon that looked good, so I went by my gut instinct and opted not to buy until I heard from all of you. Good advice mondoxjake... I'll be taking lessons from the forums and tutorials here at Rendo. Thanks everyone, Susan

Bloodsong's book is really great but it is not intended for a beginner. You need to be familiar with how Poser works before using it. The topic is making figures so a good deal of it is about making morphs and hacking cr2.
