Anybody experienced with both these apps able to make a recommendation? I'll be bopping around between several 3d apps, but I think I'd like to just do most UV stuff with one app. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not sure what your price range is, but have you looked into DeepUV by Right Hemisphere? It's a good deal more powerful than either of those and can be linked to directly in a few high end apps.

Tools :  3dsmax 2015, Daz Studio 4.6, PoserPro 2012, Blender v2.74

System: Pentium QuadCore i7, under Win 8, GeForce GTX 780 / 2GB GPU.

My experience thus far has been that overall, UVM Pro is better than ultimate unwrap. But, equally so, both programs do much the same thing. UU has a relax function, however, which is extremey valuable. Me, I'm holding my breath on UVM3. (and cheating)

Ok. I'll go with UV Mapper Pro for now. Thanks for the feedback, guys. As a hobbiest I can't even give consideration to DeepUV.

Although I am a big fan of UVM Pro, and it is the mapper I use most often, it does not have "unwrapping" or "relaxing" capabilities as the other two products do have. I do my unwrapping and relaxing manually in UVM pro, and I think I get better results than the automated ones, BUT it takes a LOT of time to do it. My advice, if you are new to UV Mapping in general, stick with UVMapper - the others will make your eyes glaze over with techno-jargon and very user-UNfriendly interfaces.
