ZDNet has a little blerb on MS putting some much needed money into Corel. Personally, I think Corel has done a pretty good job of restoring Word Perfect to some level of what it used to be. I just hope they get back to their core abilities.. Graphic programs.. and don't drop the ball with Bryce!!!! There are some issues (small though) with Bryce 4.. but I would love to see a Bryce 5. http://www.zdnet.com/zdnn/stories/news/0,4586,2635894,00.html

You can also read about it at corel.com. Apparently MS bought 24 million shares of Corel stock, in hopes that Corel would also help them get .NET into the running. I know that Corel had some financial troubles, but MS buying some of their stock hasn't gotten me at all interested in the dumb .NET thing.

MS did a similar thing with Apple and it really helped. I take the MS Corel deal as good news. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

A major corporation like MS would not invest in a financially slipping company like Corel if they did not believe it could be pulled back up.
