We don't have a team website yet, at least I don't think so. For best exposure to the 3d community, I honestly feel its best to keep the forum running here. With the next product release, I will be posting these links on all the promo pages. Now that you mention it, I have a little pet project that I started because I am sick of censorship and whiney people that impose a sort of un-official censorship. Its a website, but I don't really have a server for it and all the expertise to set it up. It needs a forum to work really well. Does anyone want to help. You can see my prototype idea at http://www.geocities.com/insomniawork/. thank you marty

insomniaworks posted Wed, 28 April 2004 at 1:18 PM

There are two things wrong with the beta that I have already cought. One is an eronious MAT zone in the outfit's top. I have already fixed this. The second is there are eronious lines in the shorts showing up in cartoon w/line mode in PPP. They should not be there and how they got there is beyond me. My methods usually prevents this but somehow has caused this. I have already fixed the problem with a weld. marty

Grimjerk posted Wed, 28 April 2004 at 10:09 PM

OK I had to play with the summer wear instead of going to bed. This is my first toon style render so bear with me while I learn the ropes. I call it "Ewww! What did I step in!"

Grimjerk posted Wed, 28 April 2004 at 10:45 PM

I found a couple glitches in the top, there are 2 spots on the back where it looks like the seam between the chest ond collars are coming through. the only other problem I see, and it seems to be a common one with conforming skirts, is that the seem loses its clean lines and starts to spread out in some ares and thin out in others but not realy where you think it would/should. when the legs start to move away from the body they start to "square out". I don't know if anything can be done about it, like I said I've seen it alot, its just a shame to have some very nice lines distort like that

insomniaworks posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 12:05 AM

Thank you for the feedback Grimjerk, and very nice toon render! I will check those lines in the back of the top and see if I can do anything with them. I knew they were there, but didn't think they were an outstanding problem. As for shorts pulling strangely on legs as you pointed out. Well, is sort of normal that they would do that. Even though its not exactly what you would want the shorts to do, the clothing is doing exactly what is supposed to do. This is one of the reasons that Poser is not a perfect technology. Also, I must add while I am on the subject, that the top pulls strangley on the back during chest bend poses for the exact reason as stated above. The top is doing exactly what it should do, but in this case it gives an unwanted effect. thank you marty

-Yggdrasil- posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 12:08 AM

Nice to have Sixus1 on the team now. I've dabbled in anime-fying Behemoth, it's a bit of work. ^^ Don't forget the sharp clean lines on CWL and RENDERING when you make 'im. Grimjerk, what toon-rendering is that? Sketch Designer? Be interested in the settings for it. Nice to be on thread #5! LOL. I agree with that idea of Riddokun's, need a more... personal website for where we seem to be headed. ^^ BTW: Nice website there, insomnia. Nice zippers. Now if they work like real zippers, I see some very cool things happening in the future. ;)

insomniaworks posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 12:09 AM

Also, I have made an adjustment to the uvmap for the shorts. The back of the shorts backwards on the uvmap so that any texture put over them would be reversed. I have fixed this.

Grimjerk posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 8:36 AM

LOL, ok that was a funny movie, been years since I've seen it. Yggdrasil: as far as a sketch preset goes... it's not. I just started working with toon renders last night and have not figured out the sketch presets yet. thats the standard poser toon shading w/line mode, about an hour of going through all my light sets to get the highlights I wanted and the rest is all post work. Marty: I figured that would be the issue with the shorts, but it never hurts to ask, you never know if theres a solution or not. As far as the mesh/conforming goes summerwear seems to be working out great, no poke through that I could force and the only real problems I saw were in some fairly extreme sitting poses that the animedoll can't take anyways, and its hard to tell if its the doll or the cloth having problems so I think your good to go in that area. I had to pull out the magnets last night and conform it to the catsuit. I'll have to post the pic I did lastnight of the new cloths with my "white tiger" texture conversion on the catsuit. Grim

insomniaworks posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 9:45 AM

Happy 14th Senshi! Thank you for the testing Grimjerk! Testers: I will be submitting this tomorrow, so I would like to get some more feed back today from testers. As for all products, it is okay if you can't get around to testing a product. I send several testers the betas with hopes that I can get at least three evaluations. If you get a beta and don't have time to test it, don't stress! Consider the beta's a gift for testing other products. But keep in mind that I usually submit after two days of testing, so if you reply later than that, it might be too late. Also, I pointed this out before, but I will again...Caly pointed out that she is using a MAC. She said she was having trouble loading my textures because the library and file names I was using was too long while testing my last package. I am wondering now how long is too long for MAC users. If I could get some feedback on that I would appriciate it. As for Real Zippers opening and closing.....I don't know, hehehehe. I might not be that good yet, hehehe, and it would push up the price of the item. These items that I am making right now are economy packages - they are very inexpensive. marty

insomniaworks posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 10:04 AM

Here is a picture of what I am using to base my next product from. You can see why I need a zipper. I will making the chains also. Both the chains and zipper will be a first time for me in. Chains may be a problem if they are a part of confirming clothing (such as the skirt) and cross joint zones. You can expect some distortions if so. I am going to try to simulate those seams in the swimsuit and use a stategy that makes it easy to apply textures at the same time.

The3dZone posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 10:43 AM

Well, While I'm really sad that your possibly giving up on the anime doll,I understand that buisness is buisness, and you've gotta do what you've gotta do. I think it would also be in your best interest as a merchant to expand your creativity to more than one poser figure. I intend to keep working on things for her myself,I still have a few ideas for her that I can't let go of. But don't be surprised if you see a bunch of v2/v3 stuff come first for a while atleast. Riddokun posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 1:00 PM

well anyway aside from animedoll, there is maya dool who may need a better merchant support so far, she is free and still young character, and most things would be compatible but first try to aim directly at the "non anime" doll market just to have a try... what do you think about it ? besides that i saw strange things in Adoll marketplace, i mean things that i would rather have expected in freebies (not mentionning your work of course) and maybe that is this habit/behavior that turned down many potential customers... anyway it is sad; it may be temporary (i hope so for the character itself) but anyway if you LIVe from your poser work, as far as you cncerned, it is irrelevant that it is temporary or not, you have to earn a living meanwhile :)

insomniaworks posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 1:10 PM

I am sorry for being gloomy this morning. I am thinking that if I release one real hot seller, it could support my work on animedoll. How many of you have heard of my "G3 genital for V3". It is a product that I have tried to distance my self from. I made this product to enter the market place because I knew that it would be a strong top seller. I have been considering making a new "G4" or "Ultimate G" to regain my standings in the top selling merchants. marty

senshi taurus, i did try to make some :) may you saw one of my picture here (though you cnanot see the countless draft renders in my hd though :) i mean, pubic hair :) NOW for realistic, please dont bring the topic, i am still upset about maya since he made us believe he had FINALLY a genital fix (he acknowleged it was flawy since start of maya/animedoll) nearly ready, and then nver heard news from it in last 2 months at least !!!! tried to do a dirty magnet myself... a bit bugged but it goes well in cartoon mode :) made once in the forum athread about flaws and needed improvement for anime/mayadoll family since their birth and that NOONE ever bothered to support both of them enough to do so far. most of this thread's content is still viable/true nowadays :( insomnia: well whenever it is about genitals and v3 it is assured to sals well, so if poser is your living and wages, don't hesitate for us, get as much money as you can to support yourself :) ps: hope you ddi not get offended with my IM because it was not my intent; i am just "like that" :)

insomniaworks posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 1:59 PM

Maybe I should make pubic hair for AnimeDoll, uh? I could model it like animedoll's hair on her head. I could make heartshapes, etc. Wouldn't take long to make and its sure to boost sales. Good sugestion Senshi and Riddokun! This product could be produced in less than a week and may save the farm!

insomniaworks posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 2:02 PM

Are there any good tenticle monsters out there? Give me sugestions on what you would like a animedoll pubic hair to be like.

Grimjerk posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 2:58 PM

Marty, Before you get to far on that, some one released a pubic hair prop for Mayadoll in the freebies section. Just want to make sure you know, that might reduce the saleability of an RMP product. Also, I had this big post I made earlier that got dumped by the system. I'm in agreement with those that think this forum needs to be moved else where, its not the first time that happened to me. Any how to restate part of what I tried to post before I had to leave for work: Marty, I think we all understand the finacial aspect of what your your doing, this isn't a hobby for all of us. As far as business goes, you need to do what ever it take to keep your self in business. While it sucks to lose the support for MD/AD it is more then understandable. :) I then went on (only half jokingly) to offer to take your meshes and do the MD/AD conversions on them, I've gotten to be pretty good with a set of magnets and have done quite a few MD conversion. I'll post some pics if anyone is interested in seeing my converted stuff. I have a few that have come out quite well. As far as my pic goes, feel free to use it for what ever you want! Grim

Grimjerk posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 5:45 PM

That and no offence to Mr Maya, he doesn't seem to be promoting his own product much. It was totaly cool that he made MD free but its not like most people know its there, word of mouth is not the worlds best marketing strategy. I have a suggestion or two for you and your crew Marty. You might want to try throwing out a texture pack, or even a mesh package to some of the other vendors like 3dna, poser pro or 3d commune, while these venues are not as high traffic there are some advantages. Since they aren't as prolific, your products won't get buried as fast, so they stay visible longer, if you pop out a texture package that points back to the main product here on RMP... viola, more visibility. Along with this, it would probrably be helpfull to have a web site that you can link to. That way you can show off your products the way you want to and point back to your product here. The Japanese poser sites are also a great place to show off some of your stuff, thats where I originaly stumbled across studio Maya, I was catching up on the gallery he has there and found his link to StudioMaya, I checked it out and bookmarked it for the hair. If you can get a listing on his site, or possibly get involved with some of the "fairs" as they are refered to, that might be a way to get some additional visibility. Thats the one main problem I see with RMP, theres so much stuff coming in at times that some thing you saw a week ago gets totaly buried. I tried some searches the other day in the marketplace and the freebies section and the results only pulled up roughly half of the item I was looking for and a bunch of products that didn't even relate to my search. Just some suggestions, hope I didn't offend :) Grim

Riddokun posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 6:02 PM

hmm another suggestion to is to make a website for you and your team to promote and display your own stuff... anyway grimjerk we were talking about AD pubic hair, not MD (most v2 pubic hairs can work n her wih very little trick) i made at least one "public" picture with my pubic hairs so far, in my gallery (Sunbath). and yes, pubic hairs had to be "solid" like animedoll hair, of course, and would someone make it, it should get some morphs for common pubic hair shapes such as bushy, trimed, natural and so on. anyway while a genital morph is a really hard job and such, a solid hairpube prop wouldbe hard to sale on itself unless part of a bigger package, it is more suitable as a freebie i guess... yes the upcoming of G.I.R.L. may have an incidence, as many turned on animedoll because lacking of traditionnal european sexy comic girl such as G.I.R.L. (damn acronym, gimme her name ! :) once they leave, there is FAR LESS pure anime addicts out there (but there are), and yes Maya is not promoting well his own products if you ask me, while they all are good (both the free and rmp ones). I guess that for a FREE character as Mayadoll, it has to be assimilated by her communauty of fans (if any) and it is us who have to support her as we can. I cannot model myself (lack time and software to learn) and barely learned to drawn some textures so far, but i would humbly say that i made my best so far to promote both dolls. in fact i only use her (and posette caracters). Do not have vickies or mikes on my hard drive. The only reason for which i would buy them (would i do it) is because of abundant good freebies (hairs, clothes) for the daz products, and for Yamato's mods of them only. but on my actual instal of poser 4, all you can see is anime ormayadoll everywhere :) think of it as a challenge. By forcing oneself to use a young, unperfect character, you quickly see its shortcomings and identify what improvement it needs...

Riddokun posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 6:07 PM

Grimjerk i cannot find the freebie you mentionned. can you point me to it please ? anyway here is a sample of my tries :) (lame and quick but it works)

insomniaworks posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 6:20 PM

As for pubic hair, it would be a very inexpensive item anyway and wouldn't save the store. It was something to think about. Although, me not knowing of the free product's existance tells you something about me. I don't spend very much time exploring and playing, because I am so busy working on new stuff. To devote so much time to devolement means I don't really know whats is all out there and know the market very well at all. I am still very much in indecision about what to do. As for making this public, in forum, I have done it so some good may come of it. I have been discussing these issues for some time now with other merchants as well as my team here. It was probably not the right thing to do, talking in public forum that is, but I thought I would rather do this than keep those who work closeley with me in the dark. Also, Grimjerk, if this forum wasn't public, you wouldn't be here talking to us. I am interested in talking to you about converted stuff by the way Grimjerk. I have been trying, although unsuccessful, to do what I would consider a good MarketPlaceQuality conversion. I am hard to please and I don't like my own conversions. I interested in making my products work on other characters rather than just AD/MD, but I keep comming back to the same conclusion that it might be easier and better to remodel the clothing for the new character. Thats not bad hair Riddokun, or at least no worse than my first attempts this afternoon. marty

insomniaworks posted Fri, 30 April 2004 at 6:32 PM

My approach was to make several sets of pubes like riddikon has posted with different shapes. I was going to attempt shapes such as a heart shape also. I might just add it to my genital morph package to and re-release it.

Marty, I think we had a miscommunication, I wasn't trying to say that the forum shouldn't be public, but that maybe a better forum system could be found else where, that doesn't seem to be a glitchy as this one. I have never had problems posting to a forum like I do to this one (meaning RMP, not specifically to these threads). I have to type these out in notepad or some such, or do a copy right before I post because half the time I try to post here it kicks me out to the main forum menu and I lose all of my typing :(. I try to be carefull with the way I phrase things, its soooo easy to have a misunderstanding, or offend some one when your trying to "talk" in a forum, I don't always succeed. I never ever meant to make it private, it to much fun talking to the other MD/AD enthusiasts! Oh and sorry, the prop I was talking about wasn't a freebie, I have so many props and what not I lose track (25 gig runtime directory, thats after I removed all the posette stuff). It was part of a MD package called Mimi. http://market.renderosity.com/softgood.ez?ViewSoftgood=26253 Also, did you see the texure package that serpentis put out for your new Bikini? Here is one of the conversions I did, its a BATLab RMP piece for vicky3, Its one of my better conversions. I was extremly pleased with this one, I actualy got the hips and buttocks to conform right. I left the boots a little large on purpose, I was working on a freebie catsuit at the time and I wanted the boots to fit over the catsuit, I ran in to some problems and shelved the catsuit (you had announced yours at that time, and I said "woot, I'll just buy that when it comes out"). I'm still working on the bra portion of it, I got ditracted by the catsuit and have been having to much fun with it. Sorry for the picture size. I have also converted ISOPs maid dress for V3 and also his School Girl outfit for TentenJ. For the Sailor Suit, I converted the shoes/socks from BATLabs Cangal suit for TentenJ. Oddly enough I find that the TentenJ stuff is almost the easiest to convert. I Have also done or am working on some other things. I did an over the knee boot from another one of BATS outfits and attached a stocking top to it,and one of his Kawa outfits Grim

We REALLY need to find a better forum system than this piece of crap. I think we should go over to a free forum site. I lost everything I just typed. Forgot my #1 rule for posting stuff in here... select all/copy...

-Yggdrasil- posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 3:27 AM

Ok, round 2! This time I'll copy it before I post it. Now... what did I say... I wish you the best of luck in whatever decision you make, but I feel that I should bring about a point that you may have not considered. Have you thought about dual-supporting items? What I mean by that is make an item that fits both the Dolls and the Vickys. With Grimjerk's obvious ability to make things fit, and the products you release, I think there's a definite marketing potential not being used here. I haven't seen anything out there that fits itself over more than one figure type. Or at least, over our ever-popular Doll/Vicky figures. What I mean is something like this... since it's staring at me in the face. Nice fits, Grimjerk. The Catherine dress. Build it, make it fit one figure, make it fit another figure, put the full body morph in that changes it, market it. Testing of something like that would be through the roof, but I think there's huge potential there that no one else seems to be doing (probably for good reason, but I haven't seen anyone mention anything like this before). Of course, the market being as it is, you'd fit it first to the Vicky crowd and have the morph fit it to the Dolls. Doing it the other way around, while more preferred for us would not be a good marketing strategy. Also, they should be dual-faced ads and thumbnails. Showing both fits or whatever. You'll want to play to that potential. Getting both sides to look at the product will gather more clicks. More clicks becomes more sales. I've been noticing a decline in the viewing of anime-type pictures in the galleries for the past few months. Before 2004, the pictures were getting hit in the high 500s or so. Now they're getting hit in the 100s. I have also received some IM's (I save them all, except the "so-and-so received your message" ones) saying that while the person doesn't watch/care much for anime, they like the picture.. or someone they were browsing with liked the picture. That tells me that there is not that much interest in the anime artform here on Renderosity. But there is some, obviously. I'd support you in whatever decision you make, marty. Whether you continue to work with us on the Doll or move to something else entirely or do both (much more prefer the latter). But, it's early... what I said probably doesn't make too much sense. Just something I was thinking of. Oh... and did I mention that we should take this forum off of Renderosity's PoC forum? ...selecting all... copying... hitting the button again.

SenshiTaurus posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 4:38 AM

Yay! You remember! Anyway, i was thinking about what he said, and it's true. BatLab did a similar thing, except it was seperate clothes for both models, but full body morphs would work also. Also, if you didn't want to concentrate on anime/maya doll so much, you could use your modeling skills to create scenery props for poser, like forests (i'd need that for RPG World anime), towns, cities, inside buildings... Since i'm absolutly no good at modeling, the only way I could help is texturing.....and since i'm bourd, if ya want a texture, just post here and i'll see if i can do one to past the time.....now i just gotta update my site....

-Yggdrasil- posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 4:42 AM

Yeah, I've seen the multiple model thing going alot. While a quick fix, I think we need to revolutionize the industry. Plus that's just double the resources for the same thing. I came up with this little plan while I was fitting some glasses I had downloaded to AnimeDoll's head (that was a lot of fun, even went through and cel-shaded them while I was at it). It came to full fruition after seeing Grimjerk's work. You could do dual models if that's what it comes to I guess, but I think we can get this thing off the ground and multi-purpose your stuff for the "masses".

-Yggdrasil- posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 4:58 AM

Boy I'm just full of insight this morning. Another thing that may be the cause of the slump in sales across the board is because people are gearing up for the summer. Prom is around the corner, summer vacations and time off are being finalized, moving expenses for all those summer movers are making plans. Lots of savings usually go on around this time of year so that they can spend alot later on in the year. I'm no expert or anything even close on the subject of marketing and trends, but I'm just basing what I've observed in my past 10 years working in retail that spring is not a very big spending season. It happened every single year I've worked in retail, so I'm thinking there's probably a trend here. Between February and June, there's very little spending on entertainment purposes (my entire retail background is entertainment in video rental, video games and computers). The only thing entertainment-wise (and that's what this is) that I see real spending on is the movies, and that's really only around April/May/June. But... like I said... I'm not an expert or anything close, just an observer.

Very cool work Grimjerk. I have made magnet sets to convert V3 to V2 and V2 to MGPT, but I have never succeeded in making a set to convert from V2 to MD. The problematic part was the crotch and butoocks area which are very different, and difficult to tweak with magnets. Will you share your technique with us (either the magnets or the finished items) ? Marty : I know you received my IM after you submitted the pakage to the RMP, but you can include my textures in it if you think they'll help. They're all yours. Best wishes.

Thank god for cut and paste on this one, lets try again! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SENSHI :) One note I forgot to put in. I didn't convert the stockings on the Cathrine Dress, I just used the stockings/Gaterbelt from MD Sexy Lingerie. I had already gone in and split the pieces up and remapped the stockings to take the textures that Bluebeard made for spanki's V3 stocking and didn't want to do the work again. I don't really have any working magnet sets. there seems to be some big inconsistancies when it comes to converting clothes to fit MD and any sets thay I have tried to make only work on that one piece. I have a couple basic magnet sets that I use, one for the short boots that I posted earlier and a small set that makes aome minor shape changes to the hips and thighs. For the most part every figure is done from scratch. One of the things that I have figured out, a morph set really won't work, if nothing else the hip/buttock is way to different. I beat my head against that wall for a long time till I finally gave up. I was so happy when BAT released some updates to his figures to include MD and found that he had seperate OBJs for MD. What I do for the most part is this: I scale the body of the figure, for a V3 to MD conversion its roughly 90%, that tends to put the crotch (if there is one) in the correct place (almost all of this is done on conformed btw). I tweak the individual X Y Z positions on the body and individual body parts till I'm as close as I can get to a fit, its usually not very close at this point (I think this is where I lose the ability to use a magnet set, this tweeking spot). I Then apply magnets to the areas that don't have symetrical problems, but are well hidden by MD mesh. I then export the mesh to OBJ selecting all of the optoions except morph target. This is where I get a little wierd I guess, and also another reason I can't use mag set. I import the figure (unchecking every thing and checking weld) and I check to see if the model will work in the cloth room (most don't for this purpose, clothing objects with lots of trim, like marty's cat suit or almost anything BAT does need to have portions of it constrained IE the trim, and you don't want to constrain anything at this point). Assuming the OBJ is clothroom compatible I then scale the obj down just enough for a lot of it to be just barely hidden by MD mesh and re export/import (you have to do this or you end up losing alot of your cloth work, you have to export/import after every change). Set up Key frame on frames 1 and 20, on frame one scale MD down so that she no longer connects to the obj mesh, you may have to scale individual body parts, not the entire figure. after clothifying the obj and setting collision depth and the other setting at the top to .25 and cloth density to .0001 run the simultion. If things work out you'll have a fairly well fitting obj. Export/Import. At this point whether the obj worked in cloth room or not, is where I do most of my mag work. For some reason on MD it works better to do mag work here. I found it easier to get the hip/buttock/back to work right if I work on the whole model as an OBJ then on individual body parts on a conformed figure, But this is the other reason I don't have working magnet sets. Whew! Some time I can do a figure in an evening, some times... I have to say tho... I learned alot about magnets doing this. Oh, I usualy do thigh/leg/breast work on the cr2 figure, not the obj, there is a python script in the freebies section that does a symetrical magnet clone that helps ALOT!

Grimjerk posted Sat, 01 May 2004 at 7:21 AM

As far as sharing goes, I would love to. I would wish this kind of work on anyone! All the meshes have to be RTE/PCF encoded, which unfortunatly means that any of my older bat conversion won't work if you don't have the files, and most aren't distributed anymore. I highly suggest that you head out to Yamato's site (poser penthouse) and down load the files from the fair thats going on, some of the clothes I converted are re-availble there for a short time (like ISOPs sailor suit and BATs cangal outfits I used for the sailor suit conversion). Wow! So much talk in the last 12 hours. Happy birthday Senshi!!! Thank you compiler!!! I don't know what IM you are refering to. On the subject of conversions, I can do a conversion from AD to V3 with Magnets that I have saved to do most of the work. My first magnets rescales the body and then the rest of the magenets moves things around. My biggest problem is breasts. I tried a conversion on my catsuit and the breasts were a big problem as well as the buttocks being so different. At this point I always come to the same conclusion that it would be better to rebuild the mesh since I am the modeler. I am going to look at one of BatLabs latest products and see how he approaches the conversions. What I am afraid of is what comes after the conversions. What about V3 body morphs.....this is what drives me crazy. Everyone expects all the morphs or at least some of them. I think I could spend a week just adding body morphs. I read your method description Grimjerk with much interest. You didn't say, but I understand you are using P5 for your conversion. I know of the method you are speeking of but I never really tested it since I am not comfortable with P5 as a building environment. You say the trims give you trouble, and you can't do my clothing this way or you can? I am not aware of magnet mirror scripts, I am in the habit of saving magnets and reloading them and changing the paramerters to make them a mirror. If you could post any mirror tools links to this forum, I would really appriciate it. Also....I know that many of you have posted addons for my products in the Free Stuff. I have tried to make links to these free products from my promopages. For some reason, I can not find the source of the downloads. Please post the links of FreeStuff in this forum that you would like to see on my promo pages. I am overjoyed to see that serpentis has put out a texture package for my item. I am going to write him/or her a thank you letter. My sales looked good over the last 12 hours also, I checked my computer this morning and there were about 9 sales. Thats good, its been a long time but these spurts usually come with the end/beginning of the month. After much thought, I am still working on animedoll for the time being. I think that all that is keeping my sales low is the fact that I need to convert over many charactors. I hate all the extra work. Its hard enough to make it work with one charactor well. Its twice as much work at least making it fit another charactor, and so much harder with all the V3 morphs that are expected. Frankly I don't have the patience to look at the same project for so long, I get bored with it and begin to hate working on it. I am interested in help on this subject, Grimjerk. Maybe a team effort, I need a good morpher to help since I am far from the best. Are you any good at using any other morphing software Grim? as where these forum threads are, I think they are going to be here for a long time. Please everyone remember, before you click "post reply" always select everything you just typed copy it to your clip board. This way, if its lost its a matter of pasting it in again. Messages that are large tend to be lost because of the time they take to write them. Here is another tip, if you type something for about 15 minutes or so, open up another browser window and go to the rosity main page, this will reset things and your reply will go thru. This is what I will have to do before I click "Post Reply" on this message because of the time it took me to write it. marty

hmm btw, regarding helping your sales, what would help them most between those two: - free addon for a commercialitem of yours or - small price commercial addon (with better quality) for a product of yours ? i ask that because i am a bit in lack of insporation and courage for my own brand projects by now, and also i wanted to suppot mayadoll (and, incidentally) animedoll but with more eas for me, basing myself on someone' else work, and i intended to make a few texture packages for now "non free" clothes (as i already did some for the free ones so far) i feel a bit uneasy at this (for variosu reason, the one relevent here would be that i am still a lame newbie texturer at all...) and so am unsure of the viability/quality of the things i could do, no matter how much time and care i put inside it. if interested or if willing to give me advices and tips, feel free...

Marty, The python script was not easy to track down, the search engine dosen't bring it up if you use python as a search item. if you use "clone" it does. the creators website is http://poserpython.com/ScriptsPage.html, it can be downloaded from there as well. As far as your catsuit goes, I haven't actualy tried it in the cloth room yet, but from experience I don't think it will work. The problem is, the seams that you have in there for the stocking top, abdomen, arms etc.. are not "part of the mesh" is the best way I can describe it. If I try to put it in the cloth room, they will break and fall. You need to be able to constrain them for it to work and when your trying to "grow" a piece of cloth, you just can't do that, and if your trying to do a skirt that has a hem in the mesh... well you can't constrain them either or the skirt won't move right. I'll throw your Catsuit in the chamber later and see what happens, I'll post a pick of what it does. However, on my way how from work last night I think I came up with a new process that will at least help me with a sweet pair of jeans I'm trying to convert. If it works I'll update you with the process. Other morph programs... I have used the tailor with some success and just bought 1.5. There was another application that I was looking at the other night (I can't remember the name) that looked like it had some promise, but I have been burned for the cost off several utilities lately (they just don't seem to do what they were advertised to do) that I have been very hesitant to pop out another 60 bucks or more... if you know what I mean. Is there a morph package you can recomend?

Compiler, love your renders. Great use of gloss. Also, It would be better if you sent me those textures after you have set them up in folders and made MAT poses for them. I will be updating all my promo pages as I always do with release of the SummerWearOne Package and will put the links to the free products. Grimjerk, the reason I was asking is if you find that morphing is your forte, you will want an editor that lets your move vertices one by one if you choose as well as groups. Although, I havn't fully tested it yet, I feel that Clothes Converter would allow you do to this at a very reasonable price. I don't feel it is a solve all product as it is advertised, but it does have some dandy tools.

Well, I've finished packing up the add-on for the Summer Wear outfit. I cannot put it up in the freestuff for the moment since the outfit itself is not yet in the MP. For people here who already have it, you can already download the add-on pack at the link above. It contains textures, MAT poses and a magnet to help the Bra's string follow the character's moves. Since this was made on a PC, with Poser5, I would appreciate if people working on Poser4 and/or Mac would tell me if it works all right for them. As for the wetsuit, Marty, it really looks awesome. I have a soft spot for wetsuits (and I know I'm not the only one here...). My question on the polycount was about the zipper. I haven't seen any working zipper based on geometry so far, so I was curious to know if that would inflate the polycount too much.

insomniaworks posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 8:36 AM

Thank you everyone, Compiler, I had a feeling that question was based around the zipper. Yes, the zipper of course adds more poly count, but not so much to be a problem. In other words, the trade off is WELL worth while. I am very proud of this suit, and it don't look 1/4 as good with out the zipper. The zipper is not "working" - I mean it don't zip up and down - its just for show. If all goes well the wetsuit/swimsuit alone will be in testing in the next day or so. I will take a very serious look at putting a stripe material zone down the sides. Thank you 3d. select-copy marty

"select-copy" ^_^

insomniaworks posted Sun, 02 May 2004 at 12:12 PM

Here it is with the side stripes inserted as The3dZone had sugested. I have left all the trim "white" so you could see where it is. This trim serves a duel purpose. It is not only for apperience, but is needed because splits in Rhino are not always perfect - especially when cutting thru fabric with wrinkles. I needed to put the trim in to hide flaws in the cuts. So it goes with out saying that these trims are not connected to the main mesh. In fact, there is not main mesh, every where there is a material zone, the geometry is split. This outfit would be impossible to convert with P5 animation tools for this reason. But, from what I can see now, I think it could be converted with magnets. The trims can be made the same colors as the rest of the materials and you will not see them if you wish. Select-Copy Marty

ThreeDee: If you watch Channel 44 at 6:30 in the morning, Sailor Moon is on every weekday morning. At least she was last I checked. She has had that morning spot for many years. I am going to try to get up tomorrow morning and check my self if Saior Moon is still on. Great recommendations on outfits - really - I need the ideas on for new packages. Also, I am thinking my self about that mono-fin. I would probably model a different one than I alread modeled. The last mono flipper was an exact copy from Nuku Nuku, and it looked a little too much like a seagull foot actually if you ask me. yggdrasil: If I do any swimming gear, it will be unique. Compiler: Nice work on the ninja there News: I am been working on the swimsuit today very little. I have it running and in the process of perfecting the fit and adding JCMs to correct pokethrus. This was meshed a little differently than I usually do, that is I used less polys than I usually do. You will find that this product will load up real quick. I am not sure yet if it was wise though, because it comes with compromises. The geometry looks real good with no choppy edges, but its a little more prone to pokethrus because of being less polys. I will correct all reaonable poke thrus with Joint Controlled Morphs. Also, another thing that is a change with this swimsuit is I have not put any buttock groups in the swimsuit. When you pose the thighs, the swimsuit crotch will not move or distort. This like everyting comes with a trade-off. When you move the thighs forward, a poke thru tends to appear in the rear buttock area of the suit. I have already created a Joint Controlled Morph to correct for this and it works rather well. When you move the buttocks, the suit crotch will move, so I recomend not using buttock movements or using them very little. I recomend the opposite for the mini dress where it is best posed in the bottocks rather than the thighs. I may be happy enough by tomorrow to release a beta of the swimsuit. Other news: Sales are still too slow. Way too slow. The SummerwearOne will be released by Friday and I am trying to have this swimsuit package ready to submit by Friday. I am hoping that the next two releases in the next two weeks will cause some in the publics buying habbits toward my products. My strategy now is a simple one, I am attempting to put out one product per week....thats very tuff to do, and it still may not be enough. If sales continue to be low in my store, I will begin working on V3. Many of ThreeDee's sugestions look great! select-copy marty

I have had a great idea, maybe the regulars here on my forum would like to get involved in a site to promote MayaX and his Animedoll along with all my products and other products for money and free. The middle one would be your room (the 'boy) and the other rooms would most proberly show up if they invite you round to their house. The school uniforms in the first one look cool. They look familiar (maybe a isaw a screenshot once) but i have never played a dating sim in my life. (except for the ones at newgrounds.com.....and i only play them because their interesting, NOT because they were hentai games...DON'T LOOK AT ME LIKE THAT!!! Besides, my favorite ones are Eva4 and Love Hina Dating Sim (be forkheads.tk) and they are non-hentai) Could someone make some sort of 'Anime Bedroom pack!'? Woah ! I've been off to work for a day and look at all you have typed ! Sorry for being late. Living in France, I go to bed when you wake up... Marty : Your wetsuit looks very very nice and sexy ! Can't wait to play with it ! As for other topics : 1- Trading polys for morphs may not be that effective filesize-wise. Morphs do eat up RAM too. 2- As for promo pics, it's all right with me. Just tell me which outfit you'd like me to illustrate and what kind of pic (cell/realistic, Anime/Maya doll, background/no background, size, etc...) 3- As for webspace, my provider allows me to have 100 Mb of free webspace. I thinks it has ftp access since I can upload my stuff with cute FTP. Let me know if you're interested. 4- Tonight and tomorrow night we have music rehersals, but I'll be totally yours of Thursday evening for testing. Yggdrasil : These are most excellent pics, with a very decent size. I'd love to use them as background for my renders, but I wonder what the license states about copyright ? Are they available in your magic ftp cavern ? 3dZone : I use V2 and PreTeen (with young adult morphs) as my main "workhorses". I also have V3 but could not find a real improvement over V2 in what I do (I'm not into photorealistic rendering). I know several people also use regularly the Pre Teen. No I'm not talking about the sick people playing with nude kids. The MGPT has a good potential and has many morphs to make her look in the 16-25 range (see Nia in the RMP). Her polycount is very acceptable and she loads quickly. You may consider doing stuff for her, even pinup-esque. The only trouble is that when someone sees a pin-up, he finds her beautiful, but when you tell him it's the MGPT, he starts crying very loud. I usually say that the base model is the millenium cube... At SenshiTaurus : just turned 14 and already into hentai games ? Tsk Tsk Tsk. ;)

I also used a picture from that game series to put a picture about Chobits in Renderotica.

SenshiTaurus posted Tue, 04 May 2004 at 11:33 AM

HEY! I'M NOT INTO HENTAI GAMES! I like dating games because they are unique. The only Dating Sims i ever played were Eva4, Love Hina sim, (both parody things) This one i can't remember, and Ganguru Girl (what DOES Ganguru mean?). I wouldn't know if the last two were hentai or not (but i would think they were) and only played them because i think dating sims are fun. I lost interest in Ganguru girl (boring, even thought the animations and graphics were nice) the other one i must admit was great. Had mild nudity, but wasn't interested in that. I was more interested in trying to get those stupid questions right. I am no fan of hentai and never will be. I am a hater of pron (and no, i'm not spelling it wrong, i said it like that on purpose) and don't know why people do it to themselves. That concludes my argument that i am NOT a hentai. If i was given a choice of playing a hentai dating sim or a non-hentai sim, i would choose the non-hentai....THERE! Wow, this post is looooooooong...... So THERE Compiler.....i'm no hentai (de ja vu).... End post.... select-copy (yes i'm actually doing that...this post is looong)

The figure on the left is the thin breast morph that comes on MD, the right is one I'm working on. When I'm done the morphs should range anywhere between the A cup morph and the busty one I have here, I know some one did breast morphs in the freebies section, but I like mine better so far and these could potentialy be included in your future packages and maybe updates on your older packages. I'm saving the magnets as I go (what a concept) so hopefully adding the morphs will be a very quick process, even with tweaking. I tried using the tailor to transfer morphs... ugg, what it did to mesh. Grim

Also, hopefully when I'm done, the Morphs on the clothing will be ECM (super conforming), so twist the FBM on the doll and poof the clothing matches Marty, I just downloaded the swimsuit, the JCM's for the buttocks arn't working. If I manually tweak them they work great! but the linkage appears to be broken. Grim

I think your charactor is comming along great. She sure looks different in both of those pictures, I am assuming only the texture has changed.

One thing that I am noticing, and this is not a fault of yours or anybody's, but I don't think it has been brought up before. Baron's clothing is nice. What really spins my wheels for his stuff is not the super-cheap price, not the quality of craftmanship, but the fact that you can mix and match and always get a certain look. The material zones in all of his stuff carry the same name, so that when you click on a MAT file, it will apply the same effects to it no matter what the item is. Have you considered doing the same? I know, the catsuit would have more/less materials than the wetsuit, but you can call them the same material names for the layout that you consider best. You know what I mean, right? It would make your stuff infinitely more expandable, and a lot easier for you texture makers to provide consistent quality time and again. I think this is something you might consider for future projects. And they don't have to be limited to Doll stuff and Vicky stuff. Have them interchangable. The reason I brought this up is that I just tried changing the materials on the wetsuit you have up now, but with those other MAT files you have in the other stuff. The neck area changes, but that's about it. Wouldn't it be cool to get that cat-like texture with one easy click right into the suit? ^_^

Point of reference, my Anime Study #005 uses Baron's materials on all the clothing. Albeit, it's Lory's BioGoth she's wearing, but that's how it happened to come out. Pretty neat effect. I'm not saying to make it the same material names as Baron uses, although that would be pretty cool, but use similar material names in your stuff. Generalized names, and have specific areas be more specific names. Just an idea...

Nice thing about the tenten/Maya Hybrid is that you can use standard V2 textures, except for the nipples, very odd mapping there. I had to go in and make some changes to the cr2 and obj files, the fingernails and toenails are named wrong in the materials so they don't map properly. Its an easy fix. Grim

Here's a quick character I threw together to represent the swimsuit I materialized in the Material Room with Ajax's (I think) slime material hooked into the Cel Shader routine. A couple of bugs to get out, but it makes some really nice-looking material. Wonder what I have to do to get it to make it look like it's supposed to look like, though... hmmmm...

Anyways, haven't seen any real problems with the wetsuit, even after putting her through some of the more crazy poses I've got in here. Good quality stuff. ^_^

And the same picture, this time with the Poser 4 rendering mode. The trims have returned! LOL... interesting... wonder where they went in the Firefly one?!?

SenshiTaurus posted Wed, 05 May 2004 at 10:29 AM

I havn't had the chance to test it yet. Why? Well, last night, i was sick in my bedroom and now my bedroom will stink until mum hires a floor cleaner. During the night i was sick, and got it on my bed, meaning that i had to wait while mum changed the covers. Now this morning, i was sick again because i drank lemonade...and now i have to starve myself for today. And also i'm taking a day off school, which is bad because it was my Math SAT papers today! And i can't take them again...poor me, feel sorry for me! Anyway, i feel a little bit better now, so i think i might just test it.

I like the leaves. That's a really cool effect. ^_^ I think you should offer that as an option for the package.

-Yggdrasil- posted Wed, 05 May 2004 at 10:37 AM

Well... no explanation for the vanishing trims from one renderer to the other other than the material settings. I guess the Firefly engine displaced the materials so much so that they "covered up" the trims. In the P4 mode, it can't do that. Since the material DOES use displacement, that's all I can conclude that happened between one and the other. Still can't explain the little lines you get, though... probably a result of the material being displaced into the negatives. I dunno... not all that familiar with displacement maps. But what I do know, that's what I'm drawing from... shrug

gee senshitaurus, you sure ought to know HOW to spend a goo birthday time :) sorry you are sick, dude... as for myself i try to whip myself for motivation to get back to poser. had not do a single picture or freebie for more than a month (last update of my website)... btw insomnia: i found that your items had a strange mapping, instead of multiedge polygons they are all but small tiny squares..is this because of rhino ? i ask this because i was starting trying to map a few textures for your products i purchased so far and it is very difficult to make proper/flawless textures (at least for a newbie as i am) with this compared to other stuff i worked on before... especially when i want to correct the seams and makes them smooth...

-Yggdrasil- posted Wed, 05 May 2004 at 11:03 AM

Breaking it down... each material zone is a different color. You really start to run out of basic colors when there's so many materials! ^_^ Anyways, just wanted to share the stupid little things I do to entertain myself.

SenshiTaurus posted Wed, 05 May 2004 at 11:17 AM

I finally did a test! Not much more to say... Another one of my white eyed, shiny haired beuties... Hey, i'm improving in rhino, so if anyone wants a texture/simple prop, i might be able to make one...

-Yggdrasil- posted Wed, 05 May 2004 at 11:20 AM

Well... I found some. -_- Sorry. I'll provide the links to the actual pictures straight out of Poser.

Riddokun: Rhino makes the mesh, if the mesh seems strange, well thats because its Rhino, lol. I have control over the mesh, but only limited amount. I can can control its density and have various ways to control the amount of detail or complexity, but in the end, I have to be happy with what kind of mesh Rhino will make for me from the original nurbs model. I have less complaints about models that have four sided polygons over those with three sided polys. marty
