I don't know but I'll be following this thread to see what the experts have to say on this. I have this problem all the time and, in my opinion, this is one of the reasons we see so many "naked barbie" pictures.

That is a nasty poke thru,it happens when the clothing is not able to move as far as the figure does, fastest way to fix it,is to just hide the body part of the figure thats poking out,or tweak the pose you have applied to her so it doesn't poke out. The3dZone

I have found on the lower body clothing like that, if you tweak the "Buttocks" region, it tends to pop into place. Sometimes that's the culprit of poses that change that area. Doesn't work all the time, but you may want to consider it.
pdxjims posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 8:29 AM
Or add a magnet to the clothing part with the poke through and pull it over the body part. I use this method when I can't hide the underlying bodypart. You can also make a transmap for the underlying figure for a more precise hide of it. This happens all the time, it's pretty much the nature of the beast. I've got a set of hide/show poses for each body part I use when it happens, and one for each material zone too.

Conforming Clothing isn't perfect. It tries best it can but unless the clothes are made of the same mesh and the polygons and joints match up this is normal for that area. The best ways to fix poke through is: In still renders: Make part underneath invisible. In Animation: Make a trans map for those areas and load on figure. Best of luck Anton

This is where magnets come in real handy. Just add a magnet to the clothing's body part where the poke-thru occurs. Now scale and move the Mag Zone around in order to limit it to the area where the poke-thru is located. Move the magnet around until the clothing covers up the exposed body part.
To make it easier to adjust the Mag Zone, change its display mode to Wireframe:
Make sure you have the Mag Zone selected. On the PC, the shortcut key is Control-Shift-3 to change the display mode of individual objects into Wireframe mode. Or using the menu bar, go to Display -> Element Style -> Wireframe
That'll enable you to more accurately gauge the zone of influence of the magnet as well as giving you maximum visibility of the area in question.

WOW! Lots of suggestions to fix this, thanks... BUT I am a beginner in Poser and I don't know HOW to do what you suggest. I don't know what a "magnet" looks like, where I find it, how to apply it, etc. I don't know how to hide the body part that is showing. I don't know how to apply transparency. I don't know what "tweak" means so I don't know how to do it. Would it be too much to ask to have screenshots of the actual controls I have to play with? If it's too much trouble, it's okay, I understand. But if it isn't, I would really appreciate. Thanks. France

I have poser propack,so I'm not sure if everything is in the same place in poser 5 but when I said "tweak the pose" I mean like in the pose you have above bring her foot down a little and try the z trans to move the foot back slighty, and maybe you won't have as much pokethru. To hide a body part, just select the bodypart from the figures body parts menu,in this case "right buttocks" then go to the object drop down menu and select properties and when the box comes up uncheck "viible" and "cast shadows",then that bodypart will disapear. Already told you about hiding/showing in your previous message. ^_^

Check out Morphworld's set of tutorials on morphing with magnets. You can find the tutorial page here.
His tutorial doesn't mention changing the Mag Zone's display mode to wireframe though so you might want to do that as you work through the tutorials. You'll find it easier working with magnets if you can actually see their zone of influence.
If you still need more help, I can churn out a small tutorial with screen caps.

Thank you all. I will check the tutorial suggested. To Yggdrasil: I must have missed that message of yours about hiding/showing. The only thing I remember about that is a reply saying to use the translate tool but I tried that and it doesn't work (for me so far). I will return and read all the replies I got from other posts though just to check if I can find this one. Thanks. France

A recent technique to avoid poke through is applying a bit of displacement to the cloth in material room. This works only for Poser 5 and limited area poke through
odeathoflife posted Thu, 29 April 2004 at 11:18 AM
you could also try posing the clothing item a bit, grab the shorts bottocks area and bend it forward a tad that may help...this is what I do anyway.

Easiest way for small poke throughs? Simple cloning in of missing section in postwork... much easier than messing with magnets and things that may cause problems elsewhere.
