I'm a relitively new Poser user & I'm having a lot of trouble locating several of my items/textures/etc. in Poser 5. With everything added in unique folder names, I often lose stuff in the jumble. Do any of you guys know of any software or have tips to keep your Poser library organized so you can easily find the items that you're looking for? Thanks in advance!

You could try to use HogSoft's Pbooost 1.4, which will allow you to quickly and easily sort and organize your folders - however it may or may not work on your system. Also, there's a utility ('correct reference') that'll look through your files and check to make sure they are looking in the right place for textures. I'm not sure if these utilities are on the renderosity marketplace anymore, but I know for sure you can get them on hogsoft.com. Jack

Also try P3dOExplorer, by SENO software. I find it invaluable.. Also, it can help if you set your libraries up in a hierarchical way. The easiest way to do this is in stages. For instance (and this is only a suggestion that works for me), in the figures library, set up a folder named "Females". Then move ALL the "female-containing" folders into it. Another folder for "males"; another folder for "Props". etc. Now start sub-dividing. In the "Females" folder sub-divide it into the various character groups (P5 characters, DAZ characters) - etc, then subdivide that (Female/DAZ/V2; Female/Daz/V3/ etc..) til you end up at the bottom level with a a folder dedicated to each separate figure. Once you've done that, start moving the conforming clothing for the figures into a "clothing" folder within that character's folder... Once you've got your Characters folder sorted, move on to the next (I'm currently working on "props; "Indoor, Outdoor, Dynamic clothing, weapons, scenes"...) It takes a while (which is why I suggest doing it in stages), but once you get there it makes things a lot easier:-) Cheers, Diolma

I wrote up some tips for organization in this thread. You will find threads where people brag about gazzillions of files and Runtimes of 40-60 GIGs or more. The only way to work with folders like that is to be organized. It doesn't matter how you do it, how you arrange things, or what software you use to help, just find a system where YOU can find everything. You can always change your organization later, but once organized changes are easier. Before organizing, think about what sort of imagery you are doing and what sort of figures and props you are collecting. If you are doing pinups, then the figure and all the related stuff to go with that figure are paramount. If you are doing genre scenes, say military historical or Japanese samurai, then gathering everything under period or culture or time might be the way to go. YOU decide. Then start making folders and plopping stuff into them. If you run into a question, ask yourself... "where would I look for this first?" Carolly
