when I get her, her hair is gone. It shows in the library image, but it's gone when I put her into the working area. How do I get it to stay with her? Also, I'm trying to work w/the lights to get a softer light to perhaps lose the icky plastic look when it renders, but no such luck. I'm at a loss with that......

Alright sis, first off, when your creating her, are you using a preset hairstyle? If so, just reapply it when you bring her into the interface. If your hair is custom, you may have to place it after you load her in the working screen, "then" save her again. Make sure you parent the hair to the head once you've got it where you want it. It will be with her permanently then. On your second question, the skin. Here's what I do. Go to your Render materials, and slide the "Highlight" all the way to 0 to start, then push it up if you want. For skin, I rarely use it. I have a post a few down from this one with an image in the editor. That's with the skin Highlight to 0. Heres is a link to an image I posted a few days ago. Her skin highlight is set to 0. You must do it for each part of the skin, but keep the highlights on things like eyes, lips, ect. Try zeroing that for the skin though and it should take that icky plastic look out of her. Good luck. Also sis, try three or four spotlights. They are a pain to work with, but are excellent with some trial and error. Delete all the lights in the editor to start. It's the trashcan icon that's with the light editor on your screen, then, go to Objects at the top, and in the dropdown box, choose "Create Spotlight". Then go to the same dropdown box and choose "Point At", and you'll get the heirarchy window. Choose the bodypart you want the spotlight to point at. Once you have it in there, it may not show much, or at all. Then do this. In the xyz settings, (you know, up, down, left, right), 0 them all and start from scratch with the position. First, bring the spotlight up a little, then pull it towards you. You will see it's effect in a few twirls of the dial. From there, you can move it around to exactly the effect you want. Hope this helps. Take care, and happy posing. =)Huolong posted Mon, 09 October 2000 at 4:34 PM
Sometimes, Poser will displace the hair, usually on the Y axis above or below the character's head. One way to rectify the problem is to select the hair object and zero the Y axis on the dials; that usually brings the hair into view. Another methods is to select the hair, and fuss with the dials (size, location) as the prop will usually light up it's frame in red when activated.

:) Yes, I can that some of the 'simplier' things that are necessary still need to become engrained in my brain. Parenting being one of them. :)
