How long has the free e-on plant downloads been around? I just discovered them and was wondering if their availability was posted in this forum. I'm talking about the Realistic Bundle, Foeniculum, Alocasia, etc.

they are quite new, and only for vue4 pro users, but they are free :)

Link to the tutorial is on the previous page agiel posted. Look for "Creating New Species with Vue Professional". Click on the graphic and the link work, if you click the text, link is broke! P.S. Love the edit feature!!!Message edited on: 05/14/2004 10:12

Thanks. The tutorial size could be a bit bigger - it's hard to see a lot of the text.

The text link to the tutorial is broken but if you click on the image with the caption "plant tutorial" you get the tutorial (well at least thats what happened when I tried it).

Thanks for the link, some of them look pretty cool, but it sparks a question in my mind that hadn't dawned before. I've made a number of plants that I was thinking of putting in freestuff, but only a couple are derived from the "standard" issue plants that come with VuePro. Does anybody know how I stand with plants derived from the extra species I've bought? Can I legally distribute them? Even if I can, will they work for people who don't own the base plants? John

Thanks e-on! Freebies are always welcome, and it's true the new plants look great! :-))) John, I guess the best is that you ask e-on. My guess would be that the modified plants won't work if you don't own the base plant.

Jon - to answer your question, plants derived from purchased plants will not work for people who do not have them as well. I don't think there is a problem with distributing your customized plants as long as you make it clear in the readme text of your freestuff that these plants require the previous purchase of other plants. It is equivalent to distributing textures for an object available commercially. You would have to buy the object to be able to use the textures.

Thanks, that makes a lot of sense. John
