I went to grab it on the yahoo group, but when I tried to unpack it, AVG blew the whistle on a dropper trojan horse...Anyone has occurences of this ?

It has always had that problem, and from what I understand it is the way it is set up that makes the virus scanners go crazy. I have never used it because of this, but it is supposed to be safe. You need to ask the creator of the product about it, he would be the best one to explain it to you. 8^) Marque

The file is safe. There are two EXEs that run at the same time on install, so that is what is seen as a trojan horse. It runs a video and installs the files at the same time. The video is pretty cool. Turn off your antivirus, install it to a temporary folder, copy that to Poser, then save the temporary folder as a backup. If I remember correctly, the video installs on C: but I can't remember the name of the file.

I did download the file from the place it's avalaible at, but couldn't get it to work, and then asked for a workaround. I didn't know that was a warez attitude? As far as I know it's not worse than asking someone to decompact and recompact a zip I wouldn't be able to open. Unless of course the downloadable file ain't legit itself ? Also, I didn't find a single help file in the yahoo group mentionning if redistribution of it is allowed or not. If I had found such info I wouldn't have asked in the first place... Now of course, I obey the rules and won't nag... so I won't reask.

sndCastie that is the most ridiculous thing I've heard yet. It is a FREE FILE for crying out loud. I WOULD wish the file existed as a normal .zip too, becorse every month people are asking about this supposed Virus and it would be nice to be able to lead them to a normal .exe. But calling that a warez request is insane. Simontemplar, I have that file installed, I'll check for a readme and see what it says about redistribution. In case it's allowed I can zip it up for you. (but I have a feeling that there's nothing stated or people would surely have done it ages ago)

well, simon, in fact downloading it from its place should be considered as warez attitude in the first place :) especially for a suspicious copyrigthed character that hopefully did not make its way to rmp...

Just a misunderstanding, lol. The staff just can't know about every single item ever offered for free. It is the free Poser item member TBKoen gave away. It is the Predator figure from the Predator movies. It is NOT infected with a virus. But, the file that is distributed, "predator.exe", is the same name that a real virus once had, so the databses of anti-virus programs see it as a virus. In fact my Mcaffee saw it and deleted it! Grumble.... I had e-mailed and IM'ed TBKoen to no avail, what Yahoo group is it in? I myself would like to get it again, maybe I can talk the author into holding it here at Rendo. AgentSmith Mod

Hmm I couldn't find my predator :o( And I can't even download it again, it says I haven't got the rights to download, eventhough I AM logged in and I AM a member of that group :o/ Oh well. And yes of course it was a misunderstanding but shouldn't moderators read the threads before they rush in and accuse people of warezing and threaten to ban them? The very first post stated it was from a yahoo group and since this subject (about the supposed trojan) comes up every few weeks, at least moderators should be familiar with that specific file.

Tested it in Poser 5, I had to do some fixing; The figure calls for "NewPredatorNo_gen.obj", which isn't there. But, "NewPredator.obj" is. I just duplicated the exsisting obj, renamed it to the obj it was looking for, and that worked, lol. Some of the props needed textures that WERE there, they just didn't have the right name, that wasn't too hard to fix. I had to create a bum file. After that, it looked great, imo. Now, to go anti-virus scan the life outta my PC.... AgentSmith

For what's it worth, I'm there now and it already IS a zip file. But I get a message that my download limit has been exceeded. "The document you requested is temporarily unavailable because you have exceeded your download limit. Please try again later." I find this strange since I don't go to Yahoo except on rare occasions (such as this one) and have no idea how I've exceeded my limit (one file? that's a pretty small limit....guess I should have tried to download half instead).

It is an .exe inside a .zip file. Not YOUR limit has been exceeded, but the person who's yahoo screenname owns the the group, that's who's limit had been exceeded for the day. Try again in 12-24 hours. It should work. AS

It's a great model, it works well in Poser5. Here is a link to a pic I did using it in Poser5. TBKoen also made a great Spawn for Poser too.
