Subject: CR2 weirdness going from Poser 5 to Propak!

I'm developing a set of clothes which started life (my big mistake) in Poser 5 where everything works perfect. Now when testing in Propak the mesh bubbles/trashes up in certain poses on a particular part. Sometimes is one collar, other times the chest. Happens with two different shirts. The item of cloth hits the pose fine by itself but when conformed to the figure is when it happens. Its easily fixed; move the troubled part one notch and it fixes itself but then this is not good for animations. Interestingly, if the figure is posed in the troublesome pose first and then the item of cloth is loaded into the scene and conformed it will take the pose fine! Once taken to another pose and returned to the troublesome pose the weirdness returns. I'm thinking it has to be some extra line of code introduced in the CR2 in Poser 5 that Propak doesn't likes. Has anybody had this happened? How to fix it?

Its a known bug in Poser 4, looks like it has been fixed in 5. The cure is to move the center of the joint by 0.001 in any direction. I usually move it in the X plane. The offset is not enough to make any appreciable difference in how the joint looks but is enough to stop the blow outs.

It worked like magic! Thank you, my Obi-Wan, may the force be always with you!

Boy, I'm on a roll. Here is another one. One of my shirts doesn't displays its name in Propak, works fine in Poser 5. Once you hit the arrow the name comes up in a box and you can select it, how do I fix it? PhilC?

The name is too long for the display box. Shorten the name.

"The name is too long for the display box. Shorten the name. " It didn't work. Resaved to the library as a 4 letter name and I still have the same problem.

Make sure that you have 'Body' selected on the figure and then Hit Ctrl-I and rename it, then save it out to the library.

Thanks Sixus, that did it!!! I'm not too familiar with Propak.

Another one. When resaving a CR2 to the library Propak saves a new .OBJ but sometimes keeps the link to the original. Is this new .OBJ file ncessary?

You would need to check the cr2 to see if it uses the new .obj if it doesnt then you dont need it.
