Hi guys, i've received two days ago my copy of creative suite CS. A little question... The plugins from previous versions work with Photoshop CS? Thanks TOXE

Most, if not all, do work with Photoshop CS.

yeah a lot of the ones supplied by Adobe migrate upwards fine, some of the 3rd party ones do okay, others require an upgrade... especially when the newer version of PS entails a revamped engine like they did with the brushes in ver7.

best thing to do is to test them out and see. i know KPT had some issues with PS7 and people still using KPT3. the UI would "hang" on certain filters and you needed to "esc" out to release the program...

just my additional 2c,

Thanks to all, for sure one of the most useful plugins (for me) is alphaworks (for free, in the web) a simple plug to erase black or white form an image and leave your file transaperent. It seems not working with CS. Did you know of some other plugins that do the same work? -TOXE

As for alphaworks, both the new and older version works fine on my Photoshop CS.

I haven't tested them exhaustively (they weren't even installed for about two years after switching to Win XP) but KPT 3, 5 and 6, Eye Candy 3 and Mask Pro 2 seem to work properly with PSCS under Windows XP.

Be careful on this one - I still have 5.5 as well as CS on my PC, and I pointed the plugins dir at my old 5.5 directory. All my third party plugins work fine, but it also tries to load the built in Adobe plugins as well, which have mostly been updated anyway, and some dont load. On top of that you end up with two blurs, two sharpens etc etc. I suggest any additional plugins you add within Photoshop you put within a separate folder (ie 3rd party or something) within the plugins directory so you can point at that.

Or even a completely separate Plugins folder, which is what I do, then point PS and Painter to it.

Oops. I did not find the plugins in my PS 7 menu, so I threw them out after installing CS. I did not use them for a year. Maybe I do not need additional plugins.

I'll wait for the PS CS #2 to come out. imitatons of plug-ins via pixel pushing will do. (sometimes .. grrrr)
