Well, I guess this thread will be dedicated to everyones requests for models(.obj,.3ds,.obp).Please try to limit the requests to things that haven't been modeled(or done badly). Also, everyone here that can model(you know who you are!)check on the thread every so often for model ideas.Hopefully this way,not only will the bryce community get objects for its scenes, but it will give some good practice to all of us modelers. Note:Modelers,I have 60 megs of webspace,30 of which I will share if hosting is needed(PM me first)

I am ready !!! :) But i do not do organics, just regular stuff, you know, mailboxes, street signs and other stuff, I do like to do it, but also requests like modeling cars and high detail models are kind of, out of question, my modeling time is relatively limited ! :) That's what I can offer, for now...

MuddyGrub posted Tue, 01 June 2004 at 12:36 AM

Something I've always thought would be cool... would be a fairly large water plane object like a lake top, during a rainy day. Something with ripply effects and little splashes.

Prufrock81 posted Tue, 01 June 2004 at 1:24 AM

That's simple to do muddy grub. Draw a nice 900 x 900 grey scale bump map of your concentric ripples and waves. IMport as image in terrain editor and apply any water material then edit the material by importing THE SAME greyscale image into materials editor as the bump map ...tweak parameters and Viola,,,just add some volumetric textures to large spheres for rain...expect an involved render.

Great ripples, but I really meant something with some of the splashes having more detail. Maybe one layer with the ripples, and another object with some of the ripples having matching droplets and splashlets etc. You know what I mean?

@MuddyGrub-adding "splashlets" and "droplets" would be easiest with meta-balls.Or, do you mean actual drops of water(as if raining),with corresponding ripples and splashlets in the water plane? If so,i can do that(i have advanced water simulation for c4d),but the file might end up gigantic(vicky 3 size&detail).I'll see what I can do(I'll blast small waterdrop objects through a particle emmiter at the water plane, then freeze the mesh in "mid rain" and export an .obj&.3ds).

I wasn't talking about rain, although that might be kinda cool. At this link you'll see several closeups of water splashlets and ripples. That's more of what I'm talking about. Yes metaballs would work, but what if there are 50, or 100 little splashes... alot of work. If it were one object it would sure be alot easier!

TwistedBolt posted Tue, 01 June 2004 at 5:58 PM

Ok,I started a new thread for the water models(or anything else about water in bryce). From now on we should keep the posting to a bare minimum, unless its a request of course. To save space,if you resond to a request, start a thread named after the said request and go from there. @Prufrock81, If you can, repost the link&pics you posted here,in the water thread. Then delete the post here to save space.I just got my post out too.

Okay - I would like to do a request! I need a sci-fi backpack. It's actually a portable timemachine/transdimensionel device! Would be cool if it had sort of a retro/semi-steampunk look. It uses one battery at a time, but there is room for two sparebatteries (I envision the batteries sorta like a metallic/bras can (like a can of food)). There is a controlpanel that can be removed from the backpack by the user (like the "telephone" from the radioguy in warmovies) - it's connected with a cord. It would be cool to see this in 3d ... anyone interested? ;) I would love an email if anyone wan't to try this... : udgang99@hotmail.com KiiiM

I have a very simple mesh request. On the toy train above, the front piece (cattle catcher?) is too sharp for a children's toy. I need a rounded edge version of that piece. The original was made by booleaning a Bryce pyramid to cut off the top and back half. If it matters, the toy train will be used in artwork I'll sell for profit.

Well, first off, here's a quick table with table cloth. The table cloth is pretty high-poly, but it looks nice in Bryce. It is untextured, but has several material zones. :)

Secondly, what sort of ribbon do you want? With a bow? Looped around the vase several times? Or like one of those 'I support such and such' ribbons?

TobinLam posted Thu, 28 October 2004 at 3:45 PM

Thanks for the table cloth. The ribbon should wrap around once with a bow. I would like the ribbon to be pretty narrow. Like the one in the picture. Thanks.

I do have an image of a painting I did a good while back with something a bit like what I'm looking for. For Bryce4. Probably too hard...? It doesn't have to look exactly like the image, but it should be old, ancient maybe. But not many tiered like Henry the VIIIth's ships, I'd rather it was simpler than that. Faintly piratical maybe, but no flags, nothing to distinguish it. FranOnTheEdge

Hi johnyf. Is the cockpit from a "real-world" aircraft, or is it from a Sci-Fi(fantasy) craft? To do an accurate approximation of the cockpit of a real-world craft would require some dimensional data as well as reference pics, whereas a Sci-fi cockpit would allow for more flexibilty(fudge-factor) or liberal interpretation since it is not based on an actual existing craft. Any chance you can post a small pic to let us know what we might be getting into?

Hi Dan.  This is it. This will more or less be the pov as well. I need the frame and windows. The control panel stuff I can do in Bryce. I don't have any dimentional data though, I'm afraid!

Check with Dann-o, he has a Russian blueprints site that gives dimensions of a lot of aircraft. I'm at work, and don't have the site, but he should know about dimensions..

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

I'm just looking at this again and checking more reference pics, and it's not as bad as I first thought. Originally , I thought the cockpit base was curved, which makes it really difficult in Bryce. But from other pics I've seen , it's actually angular. The only really curved part is the top, which won't be in the image!

Thanks for your interest so far guy's,but I'll try and carry on with it.  If I do have probs however,I'll start shouting!LOl.

This is what I have. I think it's ok. There were lots of Spitfires and they  varied in design, so this is a bit of a mix! lol. This is more the pov I wanted as well!
