looks good. I'm not sure about the pointy water drops though. In reality I believe they would appear to be fairly spherical in a very fast exposure. you might try making a blurred effect as well.

^^CLICK LINK^^ OK I tried a theory just using a terrain with a single ripple bump and merely animating scale on the X and Z axis only (no y sacling above waterline-careful)All I would have to do is save the animated group (ripple terrain and water drop) and muli-replicate it all over the place. Depnding on how I cue the individual animated groups I could start with a drizzle and get considerably heavier before applying an all out rain texture to atmosphere. Rendering a movie as such is another story altogether. =OP
THanks Kemal for the Redfield plug-in...it made making the .bump a snap!

cool movie, that will help keep down on ram(instead of the big deformed plane object).I'll work on making better rain cubes(light rain, heavy, windy, ect).I did more work on the whole splash thing within cinema.I am starting to understand the water sim plugin beter too.Maybe a new update in a while.

@Prufrock81 - Neat! The interference ripples and wave reflections are going to be pretty tricky to pull off though. @~Bolt - That auto loan animation on your folder page is incredible! That's Bryce? 8P But seriously folks, impressive efforts...

not realy drucken...the same texture on thats on water plane is on ripple plane and since I have them grouped it meshes nicely. The only MAJOR limitation to my technique is the water transparency....it can't be =O( because then you see the edges of the ripple plain....I havent tried raising transparency on ripple plain but Im sure it would show anyway....highly reflective water surfaces a must with this technique. when ripples intersect it will look great. For interference ripples (like what happens when it hits a rock) I guess I would edit the terrain image to be a "wedge" of ripple or whatever and use same scaling technique to created a new type ripple around rock. Great project to work on!

Seriously again (but just for a second) From the perspective of wave physics what you have to contend with in Bryce is not so much the incidence but the amplitude. That being it is not that the waves cross or reflect but that their amplitude, the wave height, will actually be modified by the intersecting wave based on the differences in its modulation. Harmonic amplification and all that...
Prufrock81 posted Wed, 02 June 2004 at 12:27 AM
And during a light summer shower in my soon to be pond you will not notice things like amplitude and modulation...you WILL experience a momentary suspension of disbelief though. WHy? Cuz Ahm an Arteest!!! Vive le Magique!!

"the wave height, will actually be modified by the intersecting wave based on the differences in its modulation" unfortunatly, it's true.I've noticed that in my water simulations, but as for bryce, well maybe they will adress it in v6(if it ever comes). If I can compress some of the waterdroplets movies ive made so far I'll post them. Its fun to see this stuff in motion. While on topic,I can swim objects through a water plane as well(like a boat or similar). If you guys need any boat wake meshes I can do them.Or swim an object(that you supply) through the water, and export them out together(object and waterplane)while still remaining seperately textured.

@ The Rock - Vive le momentary suspension of disbelief!!! Man if we could only score this stuff or add sound effects - the disbelief we could suspend... ;) @ ~ Bolt - That going swimming business actually opens up A TON of possibilites! Hmmmm.

Very cool stuff going on in this post! Another useful free app is the Parametric Terrain editor. I have used it to make boat wakes, ocean breakers, and dunes. It takes a little patience, but can give very good results.
